Mine has changed over time...

I must have been about 23 years old, and it was probably 1988. I'd heard that the Hungarian FEG Browning High Power "clones" were pretty good (probably read it in a gun magazine). I got one at a gun show for $200 and was pleased with it. It was my first 9mm pistol. It was reliable and I could shoot it fairly well. The small sights didn't bother my young eyes much, and I was used to DA revolver triggers, so the somewhat gritty SA trigger didn't seem bad.

A couple of years later the Clinton magazine ban thingie was about to go into effect. I decided that I would get myself a high capacity DA/SA 9mm while I still could. I'd heard that the Taurus "clones" of the Beretta 92 were dependable pistols, so I bought one NiB at the LGS. It was the model with large adjustable sights, so it was easier to shoot. It became my new favorite 9mm pistol.

About 25 years after that, I decided I would get myself one of those CZ75 thingies that everyone liked so much. I got an Israeli surplus Tanfoglio "clone". It had a very nice trigger, decent sights, and fit my hand like a glove. So it, of course, became my favorite...

Until I heard how great the Walther PPQ was. I happened to run into a used one (not a clone, for a change) in nice condition for a very nice price. Its trigger was divine. I was able to put the larger grip panels onto it for my XL hands. The sights were excellent. I shot it well. I had a new favorite.

Then something weird happened. I'd owned a couple of 1911's. They were cool pistols... you know, big 45's. But a couple of years ago there was a nice-looking 1911 pistol in the used case at the LGS... and the crazy thing was that it was 9mm!! I liked the trigger and sights and I got it for not much, so you know... I had another range toy. I took it to the range with me sometimes. I always take at least one 9mm pistol with me.

So I had a great CZ75 clone, a great PPQ, some nice Glocks, Rugers, S&W, whatever, in the gun safe, but the 9mm pistol I kept taking to the range with me instead was the cheap used 1911. It definitely became my favorite 9mm pistol to shoot. I thought my taste in 9mm pistols would keep getting more and more modern, and I was completely incorrect.

My goal is to never sell a gun I like, so I still have all of my favorite 9mm pistols. :)

I've owned Springfield Armory XDs, XDMs, I own a Glock 17, my wife has a 3.5" bull barreled 1911, a Kahr CM9 and I have a STI Marauder. I love 1911s, high capacity, fiber optic sights and a great trigger...guess which is my favorite...

I would like to own a Dan Wesson Specialist Commander in 9mm.

Easy, the one that replaced my earlier favorite.

I was fickle about pistols until the late 1980s. Then I came across a Mauser Parabellum 29/70, which was Mauser's 1970s reissue of a 1929 Swiss Luger. That gun was not such a great shooter as it was fun because it was so different from what I had owned previously.

Later, I found a Colt M1991A1 in 9mm which was a great shooter and it replaced the "Luger." After 20 years of fun, I traded the M1991A1 for a newer Colt Model O-1992, which I still have.

Shortly after my state passed a concealed carry law, I bought an HK P7. That gun was incredible for concealed carry and its manual of arms was as natural to me as breathing. Unfortunately, the manual of arms was so different from everything else I owned that I soon recognized I needed to commit exclusively to the P7 or let it move on; I chose the latter.

After the P7, I floated along for a number of years shooting my 1911 and dabbling with other pistols. Fairly recently, I surprised myself with a new favorite shooter. Over time, I had owned four Beretta 92FS/M9 pistols which had been okay, but nothing special. Then I bought a Beretta 92A1 and everything changed. It had subtle changes from my earlier Berettas that checked all of the boxes for me. I also bought a .22LR conversion kit, so I now get double duty from the 92A1.

I have a few 9mm handguns. My favorite(which I also am most accurate with) is a Grand Power P1. Feels perfect in my hand, ambidextrous everything(I am cursed with being a lefty), and I swear that rotating barrel seems like a gimmick but I think it mitigates recoil slightly.

My favorite 9MM to shoot belongs to a friend. It is a compensated long slide Staccato.

My favorite 9MM I own that I shoot is my Glock 17.

The 9MM pistol I shoot the most is a toss up between my two carry guns, a Glock 19 and a Glock 43X.

I may end up with a Staccato at some point…but for now, my Glocks serve me well.

Mine is a stainless Taurus PT1911. It has that unbeatable 1911 trigger and enough weight to make it very comfortable to shoot. A set of those ugly Hogue finger groove rubber grips make it even better.

CZ75 ... PPQ ... Glocks, Rugers, S&W ... 9mm pistol I kept taking to the range with me instead was the cheap used 1911. It definitely became my favorite 9mm pistol to shoot.

Citadel 1911 9mm
Citadel 1911 is target model of Armscor RIA 1911. While I consider RIA "Glock" of 1911 with enlarged chamber mouth that will reliably feed even sloppy reloads, Citadel is an underrated 1911 that actually produced slightly smaller groups than my railed Sig 1911 that produced 2" groups at 25 yards.

Of course, with tighter tolerances and chamber, it does require in spec ammunition to feed reliably, like Sig 1911 with tight chamber and shorter leade.

I have plans to get a 9mm 1911 in the future along with 9mm AR pistols but in the meantime, I have fun with 9mm AR carbines.

My favorite 9MM I own that I shoot is my Glock 17.

The 9MM pistol I shoot the most is a toss up between my two carry guns, a Glock 19 and a Glock 43X.
For me, it's Gen3 Glock 22/23 with KKM/BCA/LW/TK 40-9 conversion barrels.

Both did not move the front sight when dry fired out of the box (Yeah, it took checking several pistols) and as trigger surfaces smoothed out, accuracy improved.

They are now my primary choice of defense/carry pistols and using 40-9 conversion barrels allow cheaper (I reload) and more frequent point shooting practice that often run several hundred rounds per range session. I sometimes end the range session with factory/premium JHP 40S&W ammunition I use and POA/POI is readily transferable from 9mm practice at defensive distances and we fight like we train.

Thanks LL. I knew it was made by RIA, but I didn't know it was a fancier version. Apparently my friend at the LGS didn't either. It's digested many hundreds of rounds of random 9mm range ammo with zero problems so far. :)

The 1911 is just my favorite to shoot.

For CC, something like the G43 or LC9s pro would be my choice.

For HD, probably one of my big service pistols that I have extra high capacity mag for, like maybe the G17.

But for just punching holes in paper, or plinking at old cans or whatever, I enjoy the 1911 the most.
