So what's your favorite CCW?

Say what you will, My cheapie RM380 is always with me when out and often in, Not a hi cap, not a 9mm luger, not a Glock, or expensive, but reliable but always there ready to be called.

They are solid little pistols! And the extra weight soaks up the recoil. I use to wear one SOB.

My EDC is the Ruger Security 9 Compact. It is my only carry gun. I EDC either OWB or IWB. My favorite is OWB so when circumstances allow I go with it. That is when I can wear an untucked shirt, jacket, or coat. I carry two 15 round magazines using a leather Desantis Mini Scabbard holster and mag carrier. When deeper concealment is required I go to IWB. I carry a 10 round magazine in the pistol and a 15 round magazine IWB. The holster is a Kydex Desantis Slim-Tuck and the mag carrier is nylon and was previously used for a flashlight.

Yep. My RM380 is my most carried gun, thanks to my working environment.

But when not working, I prefer one of these. Pretty much a tie on which one is my favorite, as each one has its strong points.

Love the G36! Wish they did make a 7/8 round extended mag for it for range and reloads. But had the Hyve Plus One on mine or the Pearce Plus Zero for better control.

My favorite EDC is my S&W model 640, .38 spl. fitted with CT lasergrip. I shoot it well, it conceals well and is totally reliable. However, I usually carry a Springfield Armory 1911 Compact Elite 9mm also fitted with CT lasergrips and tritilum nite sights. It is also reliable and I shoot it well, but it is not as concealable as the 640 and is heavier. A price I pay for 4 more rounds and much faster reloading. You asked for favorite, not most commonly carried.
I also admit that I am seriously looking for a CZ 75D, PCR. A compact alloy framed DA pistol with 14+1 capacity.

Favorite? This one is easy to answer. It is the GP100 that I used, in a real-world defensive shooting incident. (I was on duty. It was a call for police service.) I would refuse an offer of $10K US, for it. Of course, whoever designed the GP100 seems to have hands just like mine, because a GP100 is a perfect fit. The balance is lovely. My accuracy potential with a GP100 is second to no other handgun.

Do I carry a 4” GP100, daily? No, but I carry it often enough for it to be a “CCW.” Life is good.

Is it perfect? No, but, “it’ll do to ride the river with.” (That is an old southwestern lawman saying. “The river” means the Rio Grande, along the US/Mexico border, a remote area, where one’s gear has to be truly worthy. I did not ride that river, but patrolled mean urban streets in SE Texas.)

There it is, in my avatar image, at the left of this message. Sorry about the busy background. I snapped the image, with an iPhone, to post how high, on the grip, I hold a revolver. To avoid alarming anyone, I had to step into a bit of a thicket, while snapping the image.

My preference is my Ruger LCR in 38 special. I put the slightly larger LCRx grips on it. The previous owner was kind enough to put a fiber optic sight on the front for me. The trigger is excellent. The larger grips help me control it better and keep it from moving around in my cargo pocket. A heavy handgun will make a cargo pocket sway back and forth like you have a brick in it. The LCR is barely noticeable.

Favorite CCW or most carried?

Favorite might be a toss up between my Wilson Tactical Supergrade Compact with Turnbull color case hardened frame and blued slide in 38 Super and my old Wilson CQB fullsize in 45. The Supergrade gets kind of babied though and doesn't see that much carry time. I'm just too afraid to ding it up. It gets shot a decent amount though.

Most carried would be the CQB. I've owned that gun for a long time back when I didn't own many guns. So it was the choice by default. It has a lot of miles on it and 15k+ rounds. It doesn't see as much holster time as it used to as I'll switch around my particular carry gun but it's still my favorite. It's got a ton of finish wear so I don't feel bad about knocking it around a bit.

I only own 1911 style pistols so my carry is always a 1911. So while I may switch my particular gun it's basically always the same gun just with a different finish or caliber. I don't feel too bad about rotating that way as I would if I went to completely different action types. I appreciate all of them so I enjoy carrying all of them from time to time.

If I leave the house it's a 1911 in a Supertuck Deluxe. I own 6 government models and two CCOs. In the heat like this it's most often been my Dan Wesson Vigil CCO in 9mm, which is my newest. Great gun. But it could be one of my 45s, 38 Supers, or 9mms.

Around the house it's a Mustang Pocketlite in .380. The 380 only goes outside the house if I absolutely can't have a belt gun. It's rare but it happens and while I don't like it it's better than nothing.

EZ 9--on from dawn until bedtime.

I would prefer having my Ruger American Compact if the balloon were to go up, but I have compromised for comfort.

I also like the grip safety/

I’ve consistently answered these type threads with Glock 26. That will remain standard with one caveat.

I’m gearing up to carry my SA Mil Spec 1911 when hunting and/or weather or mood dictate a 1911.

Milt Sparks SS2 and Adirondack M7 tanker holster en route. Along with some extra Metalform 7 rounders.

I've had an original Shield dating back to when they were the new hotness and it's still my go to unless I need to pocket carry. I do plan on upgrading to a Shield Plus and giving the old girl more safe time as a backup at some point.
