What slings are you guys using for AR15s?

I was personally looking towards the Magpul basic 2 point, but I cannot fathom how a few bits of hardware and a nylon strap are worth $35, that can't really be even close to the fair cost of a basic sling can it?

I have several of the Magpul single point setups and they are excellent for quick deployment.

Also have some of the GI-style nylon "silent" slings and cottom compression-slide slings. These are better suited for use as an aiming aid, but still secure the rifle out of the way just fine.

I stick with quick adjust two points.

Every time I've tried a single point and performed a transition I swear some part of the carbine hit's me in the nuts, either when I drop the gun, or while moving. A 2Pt keeps the weapon tighter to my body, so no flapping/testicle injuries. So I stick to the Blue Force Gear Vickers quick adjust 2pt "unpadded". I have a padded on my FAL, but IMHO a carbine's light enough not to bother with a padded sling. I've run the same combo for multiple carbine classes and it just works. I also have a Magpul MS4 (2PT and 1Pt convertible), but it also stays in 2Pt mode.

I have a single-point sling with the bungee section, that I modded to make a two-point with the bungee at the forearm. I tried way too many slings that didn't work, to end up making stuff up. The other one, that my son now has, started life as a 3-point, but is now a 2 with extra adjustments and a quick-release in the middle. A buddy tried it, and had me make him one just like it.

I have a coupla magpul and their ok.
Might look at Beachin Tactical. com its a small company operated by a veteran. Makes some jam up gear

I bought some kind of Vickers sling back during the 3 or 4 days of having some tactical interest but now it gathers dust somewhere and my slingless AR sits waiting for any home defense situation to arise.

I run Magpul MS4 slings on all my ARs. They cost what they cost. Plenty of other sling options on the market, but all of the "good" ones are pretty much the same price.

I use a two point, and most of them are either the M1 or BAR web slings. The BAR slings are the better of the two as they are longer. Unfortunately, they have become collectible, and are tough to find and salty when you do.

I don't use the standard swivels and mount them to the side. The gun carries better and is more versatile that way.

I normally just loop the sling behind my neck "MP40" style. But it's easily more secure and quickly out of the way by slipping an arm throug it.

Back when I first got AR-15s I tried fancy stuff, and soon got discouraged. I use simple two point slings I get from Amazon pretty cheap. I can't recall the brand right now.

I like having slings on my ARs, but I have no more interest in fancy-pants tactiKool slings.

. . . but I cannot fathom how a few bits of hardware and a nylon strap are worth $35. . .
It's been soaked in Travis Haley's pit sweat.

I use MidwayUSA $8, 1.5" wide straps. One end attaches to whatever's on the tube, the other attaches to whatever covers the barrel. When not in use, I stow it wrapped behind the stock and over the grip, John Lovell style.

I own more expensive AR slings, but they never get used. Spend the rest of the $35 on GroveTech swivels and mount points.

Affectionately known as the Nutcracker. . .

On my vest I have a length of black 2" webbing that I can adjust the length of simply by opening the shoulder pad up and moving it up. (It has velcro that sticks in the pad) It's more like a shoulder holster for my 10.5", and is easy to keep away from the jingle eggs. I have a single point for the other AR, about a dozen basic laptop strap-like things that would suffice. I have a few basic Uncle Mikes type 2 point slings. When I get a carbine or rifle, (I only plan on one more AR build, a semi copy of my issue rifle made with an Atomic Engraving lower [H&R stamped]) I plan on putting an issue M60 padded sling on it, as that's what I had on my issue 16.

Back when I used an AR to coyote hunt I used a QD sling. Removing it made it much easier to store in the safe and it carried nicely in the field with a five round magazine. Of course I had to fabricate the attachment points but it wasn't a difficult job. Now it just travels nekkid back and forth to the range when I get the urge to shoot it.

Single-points may look cool on TV, but that's about the result I get when I try to use one... ^^^

Basic GI M1 green web sling.

It worked then and it works now.

I use the M1 Carbine green web sling... with the quick adjuster. No, it's not silent, but it works very well. It is still the best sling I've found for sling-assisted shooting, and particularly when you transition from hasty to full-up.

I don't normally use a sling in normal use, anyway, but there have been times when it would have been handy. I really need to look into something a little more 'useful' than the M1 sling... but, like the OP, I have a hard time spending the loot on what might turn out to be another dust catcher in the box on top of the shelf.

A Magpul MS-1, just a basic 2-point sling. Truthfully it's something I rarely use.

I >HATE< a single point sling, with a very large passion. YMMV.

My AR came with a silent sling, but it's wearing a black GI 2-point web sling with the clanky clip on the buttstock end removed. I've found I have no use for that clanky clip.

I put the silent sling on my Beretta CX4 whenever it needs a sling.

I like BFG Vicker's slings. I use two point attachment and HK clips so they are easy on and off. I alway have the sling attached to the rifle so it is there if I need it. If you look around during the normal "Sale" days you can find these slings for about 35 bucks.

I mostly shoot in open desert and sometimes like to take off after coyotes or rabbits. The sling comes in handy during these times.

I do practice shooting with the sling but once on the range or at my shooting spots most of my shooting is with the sling off.

I have found that slings are something that you don't realize how necessary they are until you need one and don't have it. To me, it is kind of like not having a holster for your pistol.

Compared to a lot of other things people buy for their rifles, slings are cheap so there is really no good excuse for not having one.
