I am in the process of completing my permitting process. I am allowed three handguns on my permit. I went with Gaston's holy trinity....26, 19, and 17. This will cover most of my bases and allows for some commonality between my gear and my guns.

You left out the 17L, for those times when you need "a little extra muzzle velocity"

I get it, it's not the latest and the greatest combo and I did not even include a micro-9. The reason I chose these guns is because I know them well. Here is my qualification target that consists of 114 rounds at seven yards. The general idea is to keep all rounds in the 7 ring. Seven yards is basically a joke for me but I was shocked by the amount of people who could barely pass or who did not pass. Be that as it may, I really don't care about making a fashion statement with my firearms I am more concerned with using them safely and accurately if the need arises.

My comment wasn't at all about the "latest and greatest" nor some fashion accessory.. (Not even real sure how you could draw the fashion conclusion?)

It's got the same basic footprint. The only advantage is sharing a single holster.

(Yes I have owned them all)

img172-9962-profile01xy5.jpg ---------Almost always the striker-fired, DA/SA Walther P99 AS.
The long 'button/switch' on the upper rear of the receiver decocks the striker into the position for DA carry, which is always the case with my handguns.

Could carry my CZ PCR, S&W 908, even the Sig P225 (German version- Not a P6), but I don't want to risk summer sweat oozing into their metal frames, or the slides' internal components.

I carry a Colt 1991 Govt. I got in a deal about 15 years ago, it's had all the internals replaced and had some additional work done. I found a receipt in the box from a gunsmith in NY for "accurizing"& internals replacement. All the originals were in a bag in the box. It's got a nice crisp trigger and is the most accurate & reliable pistol I own and would never sell.

As a Glock shooter, I’ve heard them called a lot of things…”holy”…that’s a first!

LOL!

There is a lot to be said for sticking to one platform and shooting it well.

I have a good friend who’s been bugging me to buy a Staccato like he carries. Very nice gun! But I’ve got so much time training with striker fire guns that the single action with safety is hard for me to get fast with. Shoots awesome…when I finally remember to drop the safety!

Practice…I know.

P365 is standard carry for me.
Glock 19 if I don't mind the extra size depending on the day.
Glock 42 if I want to be extra light and discreet, and for taking out the trash or check the mail.

If size and weight aren't much of a concern, like in winter, I'll carry a P229 in .357SIG or a Beretta 92FS.

XD 45 compact. IWB in a Milt Sparks VersaMax II. Boringly reliable. Comfortable as an old shoe. Fills my hand.

Mrs Luz is transitioning from an LCR in .38 Special to a Shield 9EZ. Way too small for my hands, but perfect for hers.

It seems like the most popular EDC is a striker fire without a manual safety and the second most popular is a hammer Fire with a manual safety.
This poll was not to say which gun type was right or wrong, but to see what members here prefer.
There was that other topic that got a little ugly about manual safeties on striker fire guns. The way a couple of members carried on, you would think that everyone preferred a manual safety on a striker fire gun. This poll shows that just because someone screams louder, doesn’t make them right.

I don’t carry but if I was going to and had to choose from my current inventory I’d pick one of my BHPs.

I’d want to show it off all the time so it’s probably a good idea that I don’t carry

My issue gun is a GLOCK 19, so on duty and coming and going to work, that is what I carry.

Off duty, I carry a GLOCK 42, but have just bought a SIG 365 as a possible replacement for the GLOCK. It will depend on how well it shoots compared to the GLOCK 42.

Occasionally, I carry something bigger off duty. A BERETTA 92D Compact or SIG 229 or STOEGER 8000 (all in 9m.m.) or STOEGER 8040 in .40 S&W as I have plenty of ammo for the .40 caliber.

Love that Legion. Now that my back has decided my 226 is just too heavy for IWB all day I kinda wish I had gone with the 229.

Shield 45, so striker fired, no thumb safety

Also CZ75 compact, so it is hammer fired with a safety, but also DA/SA. I carry it cocked, safety on, so I counted it in the poll as hammer fired, with manual safety. The only time it would be DA for me in a situation where I would need to use it would be if I had a dud primer or light strike (or similar) and decided to pull the trigger again.

I’m not sure what the hammer-fire, no manual safety choice is for. It seems redundant with the DAO and DA/SA options. I don’t think many people carry a SA hammer fired gun without the safety. Maybe? Factoring those answers in could skew the DAO and DA/SA results slightly.
