S&W 17 serial number says it was made in 1959
Still not ready to retire.

You did say 'old shooter'.. This is my J. Probin ("Maker to His R.H. The Prince of Wales") 20 bore (.62 caliber) Officer's Dueller, ca. 1785. I do shoot it, and the target shows 5 shots at 12 yards (proper duelling distance), in duelling cadence (from lowered pistol to firing the shot within 3 seconds).

Two oldies, one ( 1927) I shoot, the other ( 1913 ) has never been fired after leaving the factory. You can probably tell which one is which. I might get the urge to fire the new one some day but I'm too lazy to clean all of the cosmoline out of its innards. The shoulder stock is original and matching.

S&W Regulation Police in .32 S&W Long. Circa 1925-ish (?)

Stocks (grips, to us normal folks) are original, numbered to the revolver; hand written in pencil.

It's not a museum piece by any means; barrel has some minor pitting, there are various scratches and the blueing is thin or missing in places. It's just a shooter grade revolver. And, I do shoot it. Trigger is very smooth, and it shoots to the sights with 98gr lead RN ammo.

I took it this past summer to a family shoot, Dad was there. He's 90, and this SW is older than he, which is why I brought it along.

Action shot of Dad, the barrel is is in full recoil (such as it is...).

He really liked the revolver, but wasn't interested in owning it. He's really not a Gun Guy.

It would be the top one, a 1957-58 model 28. My first revolver. It's the same age as I am, I bought it as new old stock for $245.00 in the early 1980s when i was old enough to buy a handgun myself.
The bottom one 4", I bought years later in case I wore out the 6" top one. What a joke.
The bottom was also new old stock and has not be used yet. 1972
The top one is 63 years old and I still waiting for it wear out. I know it will easily out live me at this point. The forcing cone looks like new even after all these years and all that H110.
