Congratulations on the new toy. Nice to hear you like it. I love my 9mm 1911. I'd get another if the right one popped up.

The .40 S&W is a formidable defensive handgun round, nothing about it to be ashamed of at all. Plus, that good looking 5” R-1 gives it plenty of velocity to work with .

Stay safe.

Your thread caused me to look hard at the Ronin and was hoping to find a Commander-sized 1911 in .40 S&W with the old Para-Ordinance grip and more than 9 rounds. Haven't found one yet. But that Ronin is so sexy, it may just cause me to go to the dark side.

I have a 45acp Commander and a 9mm Commander. The recoil on the 45acp really isn't that much more than the 9mm Commander. Both equally accurate and reliable. Still I like the 9mm Commander better for carry. I can shoot the 9mm a little better and it's a little cheaper to reload for.

Good lookin' piece, Rio. I too, really like that two-toned finish. And the steel frame combined with the light recoiling 9mm round makes for very comfortable range time. Your target looks good and the sights appear to be right on. Congrats on a nice buy. Rod

Sooo what do you do when you need to switch that 1911 off of stun??? :) :p.

I kid, I kid. Seriously though I really like the looks of the Ronin and I must concede that 1911’s in 9mm are soooo easy to shoot. Enjoy it in good health.

The frame is aluminum alloy, so it’s a bit lighter than a steel frame commander would be.
Recoil is still pretty much nil with the gun even with the lighter frame .

I put in a stainless Cylinder & Slide 4.0 lb springs/hammer/sear kit and shot it Wednesday. It kept everything in the 9-ring on a B-27 from 15 yds in to 7 yds even with a full magazine of double taps. It’s making me look better than I am.

Stay safe.

When I was a young man the 9MM simply did not recoil enough to flic my Bic so to speak, I'll stick with my .45 thank you very much, but now, well, I like even less than full power 9MM plinkers out of 1911s. :)

Colt Series 80 Enhanced .38 Super with a 9MM barrel. 124 Gr bullets at 1050ish are fun, accurate, and the brass falls at my feet.

Very nice gun and some good shooting. I'm right there with you on the two-toned 1911. One of the two 1911's that are in my carry rotation is a two toned government model in .45 ACP. I'm really getting the itch for a 9mm 1911 too, especially now after seeing this.

Bill Wilson of Wilson Combat is known
for his .45 1911s but you might delve
into his thinking today abut the 9mm.

His liking the 9mm goes back to some
of his competition days when he used
the Beretta 92, another gun which he
highly favors.
