So, awhile back I was given this S&W Model 15-3 by my uncle. It had belonged to my grandfather who passed away several years ago, and he got it back as it was a gift from him. He passed it to me as the "gun guy" in the family because he thought I'd appreciate it more than most. His one request was that I actually shoot it and not just let it sit on a shelf. I never have been able to get comfortable with the original grips so it really hasn't gotten shot.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I found these grips on eBay from a Thai seller, jaruwan.p. I think his/their grips have been discussed in the past, and I also have grips from them on my Taurus 65 I was passed down by another uncle from my other grandfather (cool to have gotten a revolver from each grandfather the same way). Anyway, really impressed with the craftsmanship for $65 shipped, highly recommend them if they have them for something you own! Before and after pics below.

Those look great!

I use a similar grip style for my softer kicking K-frames, they fit my hand much better than the service stocks or even the larger “magna”” grips do… plus the wood has soul that the synthetic grips just can’t match (IMHO, anyway ;)).

I liked them so much I just bought a pair for my .22 Magnum 48-3 6”. :)

When you get a chance to give it some exercise let us know how it shoots for you..

Stay safe.

Yes, keep the original grips. The replacement grips look interesting but I prefer rubber grips.

I like Pachmayr grips on my S&W Revolvers but I can understand another's preference in grips.

Regardless, the S&W Model 15 is a great 38 Special revolver.

The top revolver in the pix is a Model 16-4 (32 H&R Mag) but the bottom two are Model 15's.

There is something special about shooting 38 Special ammunition in a gun chambered for 38 Special.:)

Those are some mighty stylish looking grips! Love the two-tone look!

I wasn't sure at first, but it grew on me the more I looked at them. Definitely glad I jumped on them! More comfortable to shoot and they look nice, can't beat that.

Nice Model 15-3 with a family history. I just bought Target grips for my Model15-2 for the same reason. Shot it well and often because your grandfather may be watching.

jaruwan.p is the man to see for hardwood grips. Excellent work and reasonable prices.
I had to re-qualify yesterday for my annual HR218 card, and shot with a Glock and an S&W revolver.

I needed the serial # off the S&W and had to remove the Thai grips. Very snug fit, had to pry them apart and use a little effort to get them off the gun.

My point is, great tight fit on the gun, and I feel very attractive for a reasonable price.

OP: very nice grips!

Howdy

I prefer the magna grips that came on my K-38 Combat Masterpiece, the precursor to the Model 15.

This was my USAF issue back in the '60s. Easy to shoot, relatively ineffective with RN FMJ bullets. I liked it a lot but hoped that I'd never have to rely on it for personal defense. Fortunately, I never had to.

Cheers,

Harry
