Looking at xtreme reloading data I noticed 158gr RNFP for Hodgdon powder 3.8gr of Titegroup was listed. For xtreme 158gr FP they had Universal listed/no TG. Any reason not to use TG for flat point? The FPs are .6480 vs. 6150 (RNFP)in length. Just wondering why Universal would be a better choice. Maybe over thinking again but want to be sure there's not something I'm missing.

"Our loads are not a 'Min/Max', these cartridge lengths, powder charges, and associated data is what are recommended by our trained ballistics technicians for the best overall performance."
- X-Treme Bullets Reloading Guide, 1st Ed.
X-Treme lists what their staff have concluded deliver the best "overall performance" based on whatever testing criteria that staff developed. I use data for lead based on bullet weight and profile. Seems to work pretty well. I like X-Treme bullets - and Berry's and Rainier - they pretty much often shoot gooderly enough.

Use loading data for a similar weight/style bullet and you’ll be ok. I’ve loaded thousands of Extreme bullets and haven’t used their data once. (They didn’t even have any on their site when I started using them.) Unique, Bullseye, Hp-38, IMR Target, AA-5 all have worked well in .38, .357, .41 Mag, .44 Spl and Mag and .45 Colt for me. :)

I did learn not to overcrimp them though, the plating really will come off if you do and accuracy will suffer. ;).

Stay safe.

I bought the Titegroup for using with Murom (russian) SPP that were not working well with hp-38 in 38 spl reloads. HP-38 had been working fine for me but not with the old Russian HMF primers. I was getting incomplete powder burn, unburnt powder in barrel/cylinder. It seems the TG burns hotter/faster than the HP-38 and has worked fine w/the old Russian primers for the last three range trips(400 rnds).

From the Berrys website:
Where can I find load data for your bullets?
Load data from any load manual or website can be used. Full-metal jacketed, lead bullet, or plated bullet load data can be used as long as the following standards are adhered to:

  • The data contains the correct grain weight of bullet.
  • Berry's max recommended velocity is not exceeded. (This info is displayed on bullet boxes and product webpages.)
    • Standard Plate Bullets Max Velocity: 1,250 fps.
    • Thick-Plate Bullets (TP) Max Velocity: 1,500 fps.
  • Do not over-crimp the bullet. Crimping so tight that bullet deformation occurs, or plating is separated causing visible exposure of the lead core will cause tumbling, key-holing, and reduced accuracy.
Load data containing bullet descriptions such as Plated (P,) Berry's Bullet (BERB,) Total Metal Jacket (TMJ,) Copper Plated (CP,) or CPJ (Copper Plated Jacket,) refers to plated bullet data.

Cartridge Overall Lengths (COL) are found in the load data being used. DO NOT EXCEED SAAMI MAX COL SPECS.
Some bottom end lead data can stick a plated bullet, so be carefiul there. Some max jacketed data can be a bit much with plated, so be careful there as well.

I used to load 3.6gr of Titegroup with that bullet all the time. It was an accurate and easy to shoot load

Maybe over thinking again but want to be sure there's not something I'm missing.
You’re not missing anything. They probably just didn’t test that combination, so now you get to. Since you have same weight same technology bullets you’ve noted the OALs so account for that in the COL to match seating depth. Extreme, Berrys, Rainier all had bullets out there before published data became available. If there isn’t any other data, I use min jacketed data to start as I’ve stuck bullets using cast data. Good luck.

I've shot that combo at 3.8gr of Titegroup and 4.1gr of Titegroup. 3.8 and 4.1gr of Titegroup with Extreme flat point plated bullets are both very accurate loads.
As long as the bullets are the same weight, the base of the bullet lands in the same spot in the case for both bullets, and they chamber in my gun, I will use the same data for both of them whether they are listed or not.
