Deer cart or Sled

I have a cart that I bought many years ago for public land hunting. It has paid for itself many times over. I have been looking at the Hawk Crawler as an upgrade.

Our old horse died and the older mule was so lonely my daughter gave her away to a bigger ranch.
Im considering 1/4 ING up and packing out

I wouldn't mind one for the state forest I hunt, there's even some hiking trails to use otherwise the forest floor is real nasty up there. Money is to tight this season tho. Enjoy yours and let us know how it works.

I'm sure a drag cart or heavy duty sled would work better (and I've thought about getting one a million times), but I stick with a basic drag rope or roll-up sled for portability since I can take either with me as opposed to hiking back out to get it, and what it perhaps comes down to the most is that it's just one more thing to deal with, not just to go hunting, but storing and taking up space the rest of the year.

I don’t want to go into the whole long story, but if you’ve got 6 or 8 inches of snow and an open field, a 17’ aluminum canoe makes a real good deer sled - and you and your partner can easily haul your guns and other equipment in it at the same time. Of course the people out on the highway laugh, honk and wave at you as they drive by.

Not sure about that, but I have used a wheelbarrow in a pinch. Kind of hard on the rotator cuffs though, as the load (deer) likes to shift and it takes some good muscle to keep it from tipping. A lot like trucking concrete slurry on uneven ground, which my joints say I am not allowed to do anymore. One of the "all terrain" barrows with the large wheels and 2 up front would probably work pretty well and serve dual purpose at home. Speaking of dual purpose, the cheap, SG deer cart works amazingly well for trucking firewood.

I installed a “bigger” wheel on mine so it goes over fallen trees better. However, I’ll never use it for a drag over 1/2 mile again.
I killed a good bodied 8pt buck a good 2mi from the truck. It took me pushing and my buddy pulling by a drag strap 2hrs to get that rascal out.
If my boat motor had been running, I could have used it. It’s a 10min ride in a boat and 150yd drag to the boat!
Two years previously, we got 3 does on doe day. Boat made it REAL easy!
New motor gets delivered tomorrow!

I would have use the paddle for the boat lol,or even a push pole.

I use a kid's stroller when I shoot High Power and it holds a spotting scope, gun, ammunition, coat, lunch all I need to march from the 300 line to the 600 between relays. Mine has straight line bars from the handles to the front wheel where some of the "twin size" versions have a "swell" to make the frame wider before it attaches to the front wheel. The straight line design limits the size of the cargo area. The three wheel design allows using the front wheel to lift the front wheel out of the single track horse path when it gets too crazy down in there out West. I haven't tried it to pack meat and camping gear out here but if you know your country it might provide a solution.

Several Cowboy Action shooters have made strollers into haulers. Getting a shotgun, rifle, ammo box and other possible between shooting stations is a chore without a carrier of some kind.
