I just want to know if anyone has experienced a failure (breakage) with the stock S-style trigger return spring on a Glock.

If so I'd like to hear how old the gun was, how many rounds had been through it (approximately), and if it had been subjected to harsh conditions (such as salt water, for example).

They seem a relatively delicate part from my perspective. But we'll insulated from external variables. Just wondering.

Is this found on Gen 5? I ask because mine started occasionally not resetting. I found I had to clean it much more often than previous gen's.

I've no experience with the internals of a Gen 5, so I can't say. Sorry you're having issues though.

The S spring was engineered out of the gen 5 models. My gen 3 pistols have them. I've read about failures associated with extreme or abusive service. Never experienced it myself, mine are low round count and don't go swimming. My 48 and 19.5 do not have the S spring.

I have a high round count Gen 3 17 that had around 90K on it the first time the return spring went. Went again about 40K further on.

The gun actually still works and the trigger will reset with it broken, as long as you hold the reset as you shoot.

$3 part well worth keeping a spare or two of, but its likely going to be a while before you need one.

I've got 3 spares because I replaced them with the NY-1 and a 3.5# connector. However, I'm considering keeping the next gun stock, and will therefore have those spares handy. ;)
