A friend ask for help finding a pistol. Always happy to do that, but not having any luck. So turning to the members for help.

He wants a hammer fired, single stack, that has an optics plate. Also, doesn't want to shell out $2K for it.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Request is still vague. What caliber, brand.............and so on. The fact that the title states "having trouble finding a pistol" indicates to me that it is a specific handgun.

Any Gov't or Commander 1911, with a ~$250 trip to a good smith to mill the mount. Done for $1200-1500.

Any Ruger MkII, III, or IV, with the same ~$250 trip to a good smith to set the mount.

Any Ruger LC9, with the same ~$250 trip. . .

What's the question?

Does he want a single stack because he lives in a state with magazine restrictions, or for a thin grip, or he wants a concealed carry piece? Hammer fired and single stack in anything current production, I'm thinking that is limited to the Springfield XD-e, and I'm not sure if that could be milled for a red dot. Plenty of options in double stack, hammer fired, or single stack, striker fired, but single stack, hammer fired....I think the best option would be a 1911 platform and a trip to a gunsmith. Maybe pick up a surplus Star 9mm and have the slide cut

European American armory corporation offers the 1911 made by girsan with a optic cut and a red dot. It is around $600. Comes in 9mm and 45 ACP.
