Good news for Beretta fans, M9A4

They must be taking what Landon has come up with in his recently introduced optic cut for red dots. Glad to see a factory variant to keep the 92 series going since they recently produced the lat M9 for the military.
Unfortunately, Beretta isn't re-using Langdon's work. Their design is completely different, and follows upon the 92X Performance that Armi i Tiro posted in November 2020. You can tell at a glance because Beretta's design has two separate milling areas on the slide, with separate covers. Langdon's mod is done with one milled area, more like it's typically done on other guns. Because of this, sights are going to sit noticeably higher on Beretta's cuts. Not sure what they are going to do about the co-witness.

Not the same cut that Langdon does, he also had to redesign a few internal parts.

This shares the same optic mounting found on the 92 defense. The defense lacks the pic rail in attempt to shed weight to make weight for European gun games.

Quite an interesting plate area. Using 2 inline screws instead of side by side or staggering. Makes sense on such a narrow slide the like the 92 is famous for.

It seems Beretta releases a new, very slightly modified or “upgraded” M9 every year now and all the fanboys trip over themselves to snap them up.

I’ll wait another decade or so when the ULTIMATE TACTICAL UBER SUPREME DELUXE model is released... then I’ll TRULY be ready to defend myself! :barf:

Eh. I’m happy with my standard M9 and my 92FS Vertec. Never saw a reason to change anything beyond that, although I’ll admit to being tempted with the 92X. M9A3 holds no interest to me.

A new prom dress and lipstick, but it’s still the same pig. Now matter how you dress something up, it will always be what it is.

I like my APX much better than the 92.

The 92 is no pig. Classic firearm and always will be. I’d take one 92 over 5 plastic (and extremely ugly) APX’s. But $1100 MSRP takes it out of consideration for me. There is not one feature on that gun that interests me. Beveled magazine well? Never had an issue with non beveled. Sand resistant mags? I’ll survive without them. Suppressor ready barrel? Not suppressing my gun. Optics ready slide? Never gonna put a red dot on there.

And the FDE is revolting to me. I’m sure they will come out with a black version like they did the M9A3, but then it’s just a Vertec with some enhancements, none of which mean anything to me, and I already have a black Vertec. I’d take one if it was given but the 92X has enough upgrades without the $1100 price tag if I feel the need to add another 92 to the safe.

Well, I already have an M9A3. One of the very 1st batch, made in MD before they moved to TN (they only made 1 batch of those). I'm good. I don't use a red dot, so I have no reason to switch to an M9A4.

The grips are to big for the average hand size and the safety moves in the wrong direction. I carried a M9 for several years and can tell you, there are better pistols on the market. And the part about it being a Classic firearm. It was a Classic when the US military adopted it. It was just an old gun that got some upgrades.

Grips were never too big for me and I wear a large sized glove. Certainly not a big hand. But the straight grips available on the Vertec and the newer models solve that issue. The 92 is an iconic gun. Star of virtually every mid 80’s to late 90’s movie. There are better options to launch bullets and I don’t carry mine, but I’d take it any day over any modern plastic gun unless I’m carrying concealed, but it doesn’t fill that role. Military has carried them for 35 years and counting. I’d say that makes it iconic and a classic.

Why is it every time a product comes out and if one doesn't like it, it's just some taticool mall ninja thing?

I still like the original...and the A3. I always shot well with the M9; it fits my hand perfectly. While it will never be my first pick, I'd not ever feel under-gunned or lacking if it was all I had.

I’m quite pleased with my 92FS and 92A1. If the A4 features appeal to someone then I’d imagine they’d be as well pleased with it as I am my beretta pistols.

However, as much as I enjoy my berettas my edc will be a G26 and HD pistol will be a G19 for the foreseeable future.

Any idea if it will be possible to run back-up suppressor-height sights with a red dot? That optics cut and mount make that red dot look likes it rides awfully high.

Nobody ever seems to be upset Glock has forty different versions of the same pistol.
Don't forget, SIG offered a P226 Diamond Plate edition https://www.topgunsupply.com/sig-sauer-p226r-diamond-plate-9mm-siglite-night-sights-da-sa.html

While the 1911 is my preferred handgun, there must be at least two dozen companies making 1911's or 1911-ish pistols, and they all have multiple models in their line-ups.

I'm fine with all that.

If Beretta wants to introduce a model of the 92 that somebody wants to buy, that's cool. Those that like the Beretta 92 (and some that don't) will know Beretta spent probably the first 20 years of production of the gun, with no options or changes. Folks spent years/decades asking Beretta to introduce a decocker only 92, a 92 with dovetailed front sights, a grip smaller than a beer can, a rail on the frame for lights/lasers, an optic cut. Beretta finally gets around to providing those things that people want. It should be applauded not ridiculed.

If they had designed a blued, true compact, the length of my Sig P225 or Walther P99 AS, would have been an owner Since several years ago. Ja!

The shorter Beretta 9mms didn’t Seem to be the same length—

One either appreciates the 90 series of
Berettas and understands and knows
how to make such fine guns perform.

Or one falls into that other group which
shall remain indescribably incapable of
mastering the best.

Please continue. :neener:

OK, maybe I see this thread as just an
opportunity to have some fun. Gun
people are so serious.

I'm still waiting on Vertec frame/Brigadier slide with the FS configuration (decocker/safety), factory night sights, & this new trigger

Until then, my Inox Brigadier will suit me fine.

Same could be said of 1911 fanboys.
