I was spot checking my cases and noticed an oddity. I looked inside my sizing die and there was a little grain of tumbling media in there. I cleaned it out and ran the case through again but forgot to lubricate... I sprayed the sizing die out with action cleaner so it took away all the lube. The brass is so soft it seems impossible to get this out. Any tips?

RCBS and others make a "kit" specifically for removing stuck cases.
A drill for drilling through the flash hole to accept a tap and a bolt and tap for threading into the flash hole and a sort of cup with a through hole so that as the bolt is screwed in it pulls the case from the tap.

If you are handy with tools you can make up a similar setup!

I already ordered a new RCBS sizing die. Apparently they don't stretch as much which is a plus...... Everything I have is Hornady and to be honest I don't think it's that great.... I have the Lock & Load progressive press which actually has worked out pretty good with some modifications. The powder measure I might add is absolutely flawless though. But if I could do it all over again I would have went RCBS or Dillan. The hornady sizing die is somewhat annoying because you have to adjust it so low that it literally smashes against the shell plate making it making it Teeter In order to get the cases to fit in the case gauge perfectly.

And the primer shuttle is very annoying because sometimes it doesn't catch a primer and Now I've got to take the shell plate off and clean everything up. Done that twice already tonight

You don't specify which brand of die you are using. I do know that Lee offers a service by which you can send in the die and they will, for a small fee, extract the case for you.

One can also try driving the case out. It requires partially disassembling the die, and driving the case from the bottom.
If you aren't handy with tools, don't try it.

But then, if one isn't handy with tools, one probably shouldn't be reloading ammo....

And it was corse thread trust me.

Hornady does have a stuck case removal service. If you want to try yourself, again, try to see if there are larger bolts that can be threaded in without damaging the die. I did that once and it did work, but I first used my CO2 bike tire inflator to spray cold spray inside the brass. I don’t know if that helped shrink the brass a bit, but it did come out.

On the LNL, it’s really critical to have the primer tube aligned correctly so when the shuttle is picking up a primer, it slides just a bit past center. You need to do this without primers in, and looking straight down at the shuttle. Once set, it can move so you may need to re-do this if you’re missing primers. If it’s setup correctly, it’s pretty foolproof, or at least on mine it’ll run thousands of primers without a problem. What usually happens is debris gets in the shell plate slot where the shuttle ends up and then the primer is mis-aligned a bit with the prime hole. Good luck.

Aero Kroil to get it lube. Soak the die in a contsiner of it, then try working it out. just an idea

Have you tried the deep freeze trick. Put the die in for over night, then let it come to room temp. Then see if the brass will come out.

If you ripped the threads out of the base with an extractor you need to use a fine thread pitch.

Once you get your stuck case figured out ....

You mentioned that you are unhappy with your H: L&L. I have Dillons and Hornady's each has their strong and weak points. From time to time I get frustrated with stoppages due to primer issues. I rarely have other issues.

These issues are God's reminder that I am just a mortal human being! This is a que that it's time to get out the original assembly and adjustment instructions and go back through and check all the adjustments. I also do a cleaning and lubrication to get things humming again. (My D: 550 is 30+ years old and my H: AP is the same age, my H: L&L is a couple of years old!)

Just for the record the H: L&L has had the least issues after several thousand reloaded .223 reloads. I also noticed the issue you describe regarding setting up the sizing dies. A heavy "kiss" is required! This is also described in the instructions as the mechanism cams over!

I have no experience with hornady dies, but with Lee dies I just remove the decapping pin and decapper clamp then with the die in the press drive a brass rod through it and pound the case out. It has successfully worked twice on a 308, and once on a 223 for me. No drilling or tapping involved.
