Seems they wouldn’t work for a civilian belt.( wouldnt be tight?) Anyone ever carried one? Wonder would they work with HKS?

I still have a number of them, but they are getting kind of rough. They tend to split/crack with use in that seam you see on the top of yours. They are the carriers and speedloaders I've always preferred.

I haven't carried a revolver in years but still practice with them regularly, and practice with the carriers as well. Was just looking at some new ones not to long ago and should have grabbed a couple. Used to see them everywhere. Not so much now. Not cheap either.

l have used them with 5 star speed loaders and a 1.5 inch belt and they seemed to work fine, but I really prefer the Don Hume, Anderson, or Jox carriers.

I’d really like JOX pouch but the guy is not making them at the moment and they’re stupid expensive. I’ve thought about trying to make my own of similar design. ( somebody could really have a cottage industry career wink wink)

SteadyD, thanks for the suggestions on the others. The Jox look interesting, and I do like the kydex stuff, but what they are asking is kind of crazy for what they are.

How do yours hold up? Kydex of the right thickness generally holds up well, but the thinner kydex used in a lot of the accessories type gear, Ive found, tends to crack and give out with harder, more regular use. Is that an issue with those?

I did check out the Don Hume's and just ordered a couple of their "Pack Six" versions to try. They are about $10 more per pouch than the Safrilands, but they are also on sale now for $20 (about the same as the Split Six's), so it was a deal.

Ive also used some of the clip on spring steel type carriers in the past and wasnt real hot on them. Tended to tear up your hands, and I was always leery of retention. I think the closed flap carriers are just more secure, and the split-belt carriers more concealble.

Those are what I carried my first few years on the job, back in the eighties. Never had an issue, and they're less bulky than the ones that rode with the entire pouch forward of the duty belt. My speedloaders were HKS, and they fit fine.

Last year I contacted Nick at JOX and he was able to make several for me even though he is technically not making them currently. You can contact him and see if he would have time to make you some, as I did. He is an incredibly nice person and was very helpful.

Mine have held up just fine, and they seem to be fairly heavy duty in construction. I’ve only had them for a little over a year so I can’t speak to anything more long-term than that. They are the fastest to use since you aren’t moving a flap out of the way.

Not a speed loader carrier but a speed strip carrier I made a while back. Holds 38 and 357 rounds in speed strips.

What did you use to mold the pouch?

I just used a wood form I made. I saw an article in the Backwoodsman magazine about making tool cases or knife cases and just followed the instructions for that to make the top part. Once that was formed the snap was installed and the two halves glued together then stitched. The belt slot was made with a sharpened 25acp case on each end then connected with a razor knife.
