New member - first post. Long time lurker though.

I've gotten back in to shooting over the last 18mo or so. Owned an M1A, Mini-14, and the obligatory Mosin as my first gun ($89 @ Big 5...remember those days?) - sold them all in 2015 or so. I've been slowly restocking and it's been fun. I jumped back into ownership with an AR-15 and the collection has grown from there! I never really wanted an AR-15 - they didn't do much for me - but they were the cheapest thing available in mid-2020 and I refuse to pay $1,000 for a Mini-14. I've been missing out. They're great.

Fast forward to today - I am involved in the firearms industry (FFL/SOT/Import Auth with a couple partners) and find myself with a safe that is too small. Good problems to have, I guess!

Welcome, Salt River! Life works in strange ways, no? We are happy to have you with us. I hope we can be helpful and that you enjoy your time here. While it is good to have people in the industry, we ask that you go easy on promoting your business. The link in your sig line should be no problem, but we all know folks that don't know when to quit. :D Anyway, please check out the THR primer and make yourself comfy.

Joined last night, been shooting guns my whole life but my dad always handled the legal details concerning the guns like purchasing and transporting. Little older now so trying to learn to handle that myself, along with stuff he never dealt with like mail order guns. He's from the era that I think he bought every one of his guns from a gun show or a buddy lol. Looks like this place will be a good resource

Hello acslater2, and welcome. As you have noted, the process of owning and using firearms requires more diligence and motivation these days than it once did. We like to think that makes things safer for everyone, but of course it is inconvenient and those trying to further restrict the flow aren't in it for our best interests. We hope you will help them understand that they are being exploited. Meanwhile, we're generally friendly here and happy to have you with us!

Howdy, y'all. I have been a long-time shooter and look forward to gaining a little insight. I have had my CCW for almost twenty years, and still carrying, and hoping to never need to use it. JH

CherokeeGunslinger, here. I'm a new member from Central OH. I bought my first gun/shotgun in April 2019 (a Maverick 88), I bought my first handgun in October 2019 (a Polymer80 PF940v2), and I bought my first rifle/AR in July 2020 (a PSA PA-15).

I'm an Aspie and an avid gun nut. I'm also a staunch 2A supporter (I won't delve further than that here, as per Forum Rules), and a firm believer in both concealed carry and open carry.

I'm looking forward to participating here.

Micpib 1, we are glad you found us. Welcome aboard. There are many facets to the shooting sports, and I hope you will learn about some fun ones as well as the self-defense end of things. Thank you for the introduction. I hope you find some worthwhile information here, and form some long lasting friendships.

Welcome to the community, CherokeeGunslinger! I had to look up the Aspie term, but I have members of my family that are on the spectrum and don't necessarily act in ways I understand. That doesn't affect their value as a human being. It just means that they, and I, work a bit harder at fitting the pieces together. We get by with a little help from our friends. We all count on each other to make us wiser, and more responsible, in our firearms interest. I hope you will be comfortable here and thank you for the background info. Now look around the site and get your bearings. Its a good place to spend some time.

Hello folks!

I've been lurking here for a while and finally joined today. I found the High Road mainly because frequently an internet search on some gun topic would show HR in the first page.

While I've been interested in firearms and military history for decades, I lived in NYC until 2020, so firearms ownership wasn't easy. I moved to a more friendly state and have since become a gun owner.

My most recent acquisitions?

1) A JC Higgins/High Standard 12 gauge pump shotgun. Old school
2) A Beretta Tomcat that followed me home yesterday for $200, when I've seen it going for much more than that used and new.

Autodidactic, I see that your screen name means self-taught. I hope you find something useful here, and that others can learn from your experience and knowledge base. Congratulations on your classic pump shotgun and a screaming deal on the Beretta. There was a recent discussion of .32 autos in the handgun-autoloader section, so you may wish to check that out. I will also recommend a scan of the THR primer section to help you get off on the right foot (which makes no sense to me, because in marching band we always started with our left foot) :D

Thank you friend for the welcome. I got a good deal on both the shotgun and Beretta. Got the shotgun for $140. Hopefully counterbalances the not-so-great deals of yesteryear ;).

I look forward to learning from all of the very knowledgeable members here. While I'm a voracious learner, I'm still a newbie as a gun owner (1.5 years).

I read the rules and will approach the mods after we've been contributing members for some time. Or maybe not. I don't know. We'll see.

Hi, I'm deth (or Christopher, I go by several aliases, Chris isn't my real name, nor whatever.)
I have NEVER used a gun and want to get more and more familiar and learn more about them. I know basic rules of Gun Safety and all that, but uh..
yeah.
Cya round.

There may be a time when I welcome death, Christopher or whatever, but now is not that time. I suspect that you would receive more gratification from video games and perhaps death metal music than working your brand of shock rock in our community. If at some point in the future you develop a serious interest in firearms and are willing to be respectful and a part of the community you will be welcome.

I found this site while looking for reloading info. A friend died and left me his reloading equipment. I’ve had gun a long time, mostly revolvers and pistols, not many long guns. Never got into reloading because ammo was cheap snd plentiful. Now it’s a different story and reloading makes sense. Besides, I either want to honor my friend by putting his equipment to use or pas it on to someone who will. I read the rules of etiquette and they make sense. People should be able to discuss differences with dignity. Thanks for accepting me.

Thank you for the introduction, YellowcatDaddy. Those are some nice handguns, and reloading should make them more useful. Thanks for checking out the basic rules of the forum. You should find some useful information and encouragement in the reloading section, and other items of interest along the way. Enjoy!

Welcome, RGMO! You sound like someone who knows how things work and how to fix them when they don't. We can always use that kind of experience, and I hope you will get some useful information as well. Thanks for the intro, and I hope you enjoy the ride.

Newbie here. Just started reloading, go figure, with all the products not on the market. I have a lot of questions which are probably silly but I have a need to know, especially from the experienced. Hope to pick all your brains about reloading and I promise you I will take your advice, which I have already done. You will see me on most all the sites. Seems like a great place for information which I am lacking on the Reloading side of the house. Thanks for the info.

Hello Fellow Second Amendment Fans. I had not seen this Thread or I would have introduced myself Within last 2-3 week.
I’m In my Early 40, Traveled to Africa/Out West and have been a Hunter since I was young. When I worked at a Range/Shop I interacted as Liaison with Officers, Swat and many Leo’s. Ive taken plentely of training classes and have had the opportunity to shoot a multitude of various different types of Firearms. Most guys my age that I’ve met, Prefer to have a safe full of Swat Team Firearms- Yet I always Enjoyed Bolt Action, Lever action and Revolvers. I have some of the other items… Yet not my cup of tea. I’m a advocate for safety in Handling firearms, Reloading and casting.
As a Person who has been in the firearm community and carried for what I consider-a substantial amount of time , I’ve met plenty of Not so nice people. I am definitely on the Side of “Let’s Learn from One another” ,as You can’t ever have to much knowledge. Many of the Officers I met where older Fellas and always liked a good conversation- As do I.
Hope to Be a valuable member of this community and get along with all I interact with. Take care and thank you for what has been a warm welcome This Far.
LND CRZR

Ps - I need to fix the typo in my Name. Just not sure home. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you
