Since trap shooting season is coming to a close, at least around here in the northeast, we will be closing up shop at the club within the matter of weeks :(. The silver lining would seem to be, maybe people won't be emptying the shelves and if you guys come across some deals and wouldn't mind, post them here. I would like to buy a flat here or there in the coming months to make sure I'm well stocked for spring....

I'm still seeing prices hover around $100-$125 per 250rd flat, but hopefully that price goes down in the coming months and if you see any online deals please make sure to give a heads up on any #8-#7½ target loads you come across.

I'm seeing prices come down quite a bit across the board and some guys on trapshooters forum report seeing flats in their local box stores for as low as $65/250.

Why are you guys closing up shop - the weather ? About 90% of my shooters are in their 70s and we shoot all year round and we live in Michigan. We use to shoot SCs in the winter but that was a couple of years ago. We have skeet, trap, and a 8 X 40 covered 5-stand what gets shot a lot in the winter. Are local Walmart still sells shells for 22 or 24$/ 4 boxes.

Our Walmart don't have any, the one 50 miles up the road had about a dozen boxes of steel shot 3" and that was all.

Walmart is still your best price, but as has been noted, supply is still spotty. It is coming in more regularly now. I check our store's inventory every day. I picked up 6 boxes of AA and 6 of W-W Super Target (WWB) 12 ga. Trap loads within the last week. (3 box limit/day. I work there, so there's no coming back an hour later and getting more.) The 4 paks count as 1 box, but I haven't seen any of those for a couple months.

When was the last time anybody saw flats at Walmart? I know guys on other forums in other regions have been seeing them but I haven't seen anything bigger than a 4-pk. I got a 250rd flat from Runnings a lil while back but it was $90. I don't think it was meant to be a flat either, I think I just spotted it before someone unpacked it for individual box sales....

nothing but steel waterfowl loads on the shelves here (at least in 12ga)
Ended up looking online, $117 for a flat (shipped).

And that's usually the case at Walmart. I was able to get flats before this whole COVID crap because my best friend was the Sporting Goods Dept. Mgr, and he ordered plenty of extra flats
because he knew he could sell them (and always did) and many local trapshooters came in and bought 10 flats (or more) at a time. I bought 4 flats a month the first year I started back up at leagues, always AA and STS/Nitro to build up a hull stock for when I would start reloading over that winter.
The 3 box limit sucks, especially since 4 paks got scarce, but at least when they come in, we don't gouge.

Yikes, I went to NH today with the sole intent of picking up some shells and it's the first time in a while I went home completely empty handed. Wal Mart and Runnings had nothing. Well, Runnings had tons of buckshot and managed recoil slugs. 25rd boxes of Estate 00 buck. I bought some a while back and I'm just not real fond of the low brass, silver base buckshot. My cheap H&R eats everything, my 870 can be a lil sticky with the silver base stuff though.

I was very happy to find a 100rd case of Federal Target at Wal-Mart yesterday. In fact it was the last box. I knew my luck was high when I passed a guy with a cart and he had 2 cases with him. I bought it for $30 plus 2 more boxes of Winchester Heavy Target Load for $7.50. I really should stop stocking on ammo for awhile though.
