I hope they bust the jerks too. I don't keep my cams out all year. I also use them cable locks that come with guns. And lock the cams to the tree. Not 100% theft proof. But it's better than just a bungee.

It's a shame that people can't have things
without some pinhead messing with them.
I've found that if there's not somebody on
site all the time, there'll be somebody
trespass if only for whatever joy they get
from trespassing.

I had a camera & my tree stand vandalized a few years back. I had the camera in a tamper proof steel case but they still jammed a stick trough the activation lens. I had a large cable around the top of my tree stand & they stuck a knife in my lock & broke the tip off so my key wouldn't fit any more. Why can't people that want these things just save up like I did & buy their own??

I sympathize with anyone that has been the victim of thieves. Hope they get what's coming to them.

Don't have a good answer to prevent it, tried to make it as difficult as possible for the scumbags.

Have our farm under video surveillance, cameras, signage, and trail camera security boxes. Seems to be working so far.

people, and they all have as much land
or access to as much land as they're trespassing on.

I've had things stolen and vandalized
for no reason that I could ever figure.
Punishment for stuff like that isn't severe
enough to be a sufficient deterrent

Sorry for your loss, had a great many things stolen from me, mostly by one family member right out of my home. Thing that irritates me most is that if he'd asked I'd have gotten him some of the things he stole. Like all of my hunting gloves and hats.

I have lost a couple of trees stands to thieves. Both were cable locked on. I used the kind of steps your remove to get up the first 7 or 8 feet. Didn't matter. They came prepared.

Sorry to hear you were a victim of scumbags. We've had a few problems on our hunting property too. Used to be the biggest issue was the neighbors trespassing when they knew we weren't there. Now it's the crackheads cruising around looking for that cabin with no cars around. Several times in the past coupla years have had old beat-up vehicles with scabbed face toothless folks pull in the driveway when there are no vehicles around. Surprisingly they quickly back out and take off down the road at a much quicker pace then they approached, when they see a someone is there. We too use security cameras and have actually used the "Ring" theft protection replacement policy after a camera was stolen off the deck.

That just sucks.

Hopefully the SOBs either get caught, or at least Karma catches up with them.

I've a feeling many of these people are just inconsiderate SOBs who simply get a kick out of doing stuff like this. Yeah, some of them are stealing for the value, but a lot of it is simply being immature, vindictive little anal orifices.

I agree. I have always been a bit to the right of Hammurabi on the subject the punishment of thieves.

Thing is, its not hard to figure out your routines, when you will be there and when you won't. They plan ahead knowing when its the least risk to them. They are neighbors local to you who can monitor your coming and going down to minutes. And stolen stuff may be sitting in an old horse trailer behind the barn or down in that springhouse grandpa put up in the early 1900's.

You're the rich guy who moved in while they are the righteous locals who worked hard to keep their land only to have you flaunt your money with all sorts of deer gear. There very much is a negative attitude over it. Those deer are there's, not the conservation department, they hunt too, likely poach, and if you are the dominant predator trying to get the big antlers then they will mess with your stuff to keep your success down.

One approach if you get a clue who might be doing it is to offer to lease hunting on their land. Sorts out the goats from the sheep quick. They don't need someone poking around stumbling over a car being stripped or that horse trailer full of your stuff behind the barn.

Its your neighbors, just down the road.

We had one come up missing off a piece of property closest to the road. I instantly took the front end loader over there and put another camera up on a limb that no person could climb, even if they looked up to notice it.

I did that knowing thieves often come right back to steal the new replacement you purchased.

I was actually happy to see at least one “father figure” had the 3 return the camera, you can see the alleged original thief wiping his finger prints from it after he put it back where he stole it from.



Closest neighbor is a teacher at the highschool, knows who they are. I asked her to not say anything, the glass half full guy said they had learned their lesson. Only cost me the memory card that was in it.

The above is for folks that think they have “gotten away” with something. Somewhere someone left evidence.

Although I haven’t messed with it, they also have some Google map stuff that might locate it.



In any case, you might want to stop the plans you have as, as long as you keep paying for them, the cameras will still work.

It would make sense to me to point a hidden trail camera at your "hunting house" in the future, and maybe hide the items you can in the woods, even though you shouldn't have to do this.

I love it when people are held accountable!

My brother in law kept having his hunting cabin broken into, everything stolen including the gas cans for his ATV. He got sick of it, left a 5 gallon gas can there, full with 5 gallons of gas and 5 pounds of sugar. Told the local sheriff, who found a guy about a week later on a broken down ATV on the side of the road. Sheriff knew the guy, put the heat to him, and got him to confess. Recovered the stolen stuff. Sweet karma.

Lots of thieves and poachers out there who call them selves "hunters" on the internet.
