I like 10mm Auto a lot and I am an XD fan but I would want 10mm Auto in a longer barreled gun. If I am going to something that short I would (an have) stepped down to 40S&W. But each to his own and I do like XD's in most of their forms.

Typically I agree which is why I own these.
View media item 1078A full 5” barrel is where the 10mm shines.
But sometimes I want something smaller and lighter. So this fits the bill for me. I’d prefer to stick to 10mm also and not load 40 S&W. So again, I agree. The flexibility of the 10 mm is it’s best attribute in my opinion. Powder puff loads all the way up to 357 magnum power levels.

I wanted the Sig. I have several others. Couldn't justify the price for how little I shoot 10mm
Bought the Block instead. It's OK but its just a Block:uhoh:

I had just bought my XDm 5.25 and 3.8 compact in 40 when they announced the 10mm XDm, so far I have kept myself in check.

I have a XDm Compact (3.8" bbl) in .45ACP that I sometimes carry, Terrific gun. I have a Springfield Armory 1911 TRP in 10mm, also a terrific gun and caliber. You won't go wrong with one of those XDms. When I carry mine, I use a flush mag in the gun and an extra 13-rd full length with sleeve in my pocket. I don't care for red dot sights but I replaced the OEM sights on mine with Trijicon HD Night Sights. Sights are the only mods I do on a carry pistol.

Cheers,

Harry

I own a first gen XDm 3.8 Compact chambered in .40 S&W. This was my first carry gun. I am not recoil sensitive but this pistol is a bit hard to control. As one of the moderators here pointed out when we met and he shot it, this pistol tends to twist or torque in your hand when fired. I can't imagine the 10mm version would be more controllable. I quickly retired this pistol. I hope the Elite is more controllable.

I bet it’ll snort pretty good. Certainly with practice though it’ll do when needed.

I really wish they’d chamber the XDs in 38 super using rimless super Comp rimless brass. They won’t, but I can wish. I’ll be content looking for one of these.
I’ll load my own ammo for it of course. 40 S&W power for walking around, 190 gr copper monolithic bullets for long distance hikes.

Even though I'm not interested in this, I think this is great news. I really like the 10mm. I can definitely get behind more manufacturers making new offerings in 10mm. But I think I'm I the same camp as MCB on this one. The 5 inch barrel is where the 10mm really shines.

I'd kinda hoped they'd have revised the full size 10mm XDM for optics, but this just might replace my G29. If the grip safety doesn't pinch the web of my hand like the 45 cal XDMs do. Interested to see one, think it'll be a good seller.

Crap... that is the one gun that would get me to buy a 10mm. I own an XD mod 2 compact in .45acp and it shoots like a full size gun with the extended magazine. It then conceals well with a flush magazine. I have always said... If Springfield would just come out with a compact 10mm... and now they have.

11 round short magazines and it can take the 15 round full mags with a grip extension... this is exactly what I have wished for!

I can't foresee myself carrying with an optical site but it would be really nice to have the option at the range. I guess I am glad I didn't break down and buy one of the larger 10mm XDm's.

My biggest problem with 10mm is that I will also have buy a conversion kit for my Dillon press.

Any one have any idea what the price will be on this compact 10mm?

i saw 2 on Gunbroker. $629 and $649. I have one with the 4.25 inch (I think) barrel and it’s a good fit for me. I’ll be ordering this one soon as a woods gun.

I just looked at Gun Broker and the $649 one is still listed WITH the red dot! $649 is affordable and quite reasonable for all it has. MSRP on the Dragonfly site is $249 according to their website.

I wonder how long it will take them to start shipping an OSP XDm 3.8" 10mm without the Dragonfly included and at what price? I guess I will have to start saving up!

It doesn't include the red dot, it clearly states on the picture and listing "optic not included." It's just a stock photo.

The ad for the $649 one was a little confusing, as it used a picture of one with the red dot sight but the gun they were selling didn’t include the sight.

$650 sounds about right. I may trade my HK P30sk for this. I hardly carry it anymore and if this is only modestly bigger I’d rather have a 10mm on hand than a 9mm.
