Start to my 09 Argentine 9.3x62 build.

Here is the 3 position safety I am looking at, price is not to bad. I have to see if they need to be fit, I'd rather a safety t hats more mauser looking but these are cheaper. There used to be kits to convert a 98 bolt shroud to 2 position t hats what's on my other 09 but don't think there made anymore. The Dakota were like $300 but I don't know if there still made of not.

Bases and qd rings I have there the Talley old style. Rings need to be cleaned up I'll find a way to paint them more something. The rings are the one screw top I would like the 2 screws with the recoil but they maybe ok I'll have to see. I could use standard leupolds I've got or I have some qd weaver rings to.

They have a decent bolt blank, I could make on the lathe but for $10 why not



$21 for these I only need one.



Even there cross bolts I may use, I could make brass cups on the lathe and make ebony plugs.$8

Beautiful rifle close to what I want, I'd like a similar bolt, wish I had the tools to checkker the bolt. I like the swept back prices of whales or whatever the name is, tho I'm not sure the Richards stock can be made like that. That's the same safety as on my 09 I like it but can't find them anymore.nice older sworo to.

I shot the rifle today, all went good functions perfect. Shot at 50ish yards today, long thing I had to shoot was a usps small flat rate box. So like 6" x10 first shot was about a inch down from the top second right next to it. Aimed at bottom and 3 others were right in the middle, windage was perfect. So Definitely still a 100 yard deer rifle. I may try piling a deer with it before I change the barrel.

surprised if shot as good as it did, my dad said he's had some pretty pitted bore and they still shot good. No rest just leaning on a post behind my buddies barn.

Every rifle bore out here that isn't stainless steel or chromed ends up rusting at some point. Most folks who have me do stuff to their guns don't really take care of their rifles so usually they look like sewer pipes. I still find it fairly unusual for even one of these old beat up guns to shoot more than the 3 in group it 100 yards and most of them can do closer to 1.5-2.

Usually ones a do shoot poorly shoot 20 ft patterns as opposed to anything that could be considered a group lol

it's hard to explain what the pitting looks like, I'd say like it was sand blaster. Funny there was no rust like none nice clean metal, rifling is strong. Surprised the fired cases were very good, sometimes with reamed military chambers some funky things happen. A few Circular lines on the shoulder but not much can probably polish some to help, should disappear when sized. The neck area is nice and tight only expanded .004.

I did shoot as the sun was setting the box of Norma made a good 2-3 foot fireball, my buddy was like wow lol. Recoil was mild the wide plate n the 09 helps. Wish I had another gun the same would be fun to keep it the way it is.

here's the barrel in thinking from shaw, it's the lightest in 9.3 still will have .125 or so barrel thickness. Loonwulf you think you could get dels discount. Even tho the wait is like 4 months i it maybe a $100 that the price of one of the sights of other things.

I wish they showed the true look of the contour on there sight, I'll see if I can find a picture of the 2.5 heavy sporter. Think I talked to a guy with one in 9.3 said it was a tad heavy but nice.

I have the light varmint on my Ruger American, and had a light Sporter on my 6.5-284.....from what I've seen I'd guess most of the weight is in the shank and initial tapper. My light Sporter was still pretty heavy for about 16"

I'd like to be under 9.5 lbs scoped with a 1-4 leupold t hats a pretty good size hole in the bore,

My A-bolt with about that ending profile barrel came out at 7.25lbs or so

A military 98 mauser complete action with bottom and all that goes with it is about 3 pounds a little less once it's sporterized.

The japs pretty much a small ring so saves some there, the bottoms lighter then most 98s even less sportered.

I talked with the guy from accu tig in Alaska today, very nice guy but no longer does mauser bolts.
