Wright Armory sent a notice that the company that owns the patent on NP3+ is discontinuing retail sales after October 15. Having had a BCG coated through Robar a few years ago, I dropped a pair of BCGs into the mail a few days ago. I really liked the finish on the BCG, so I figured that I wouldn't miss my chance on the other two.

Yesterday, I received an invoice from the company. I was expected $165 x 2 = $330 + ~$20 shipping for the pair. My invoice is reading $385 and comes with a standard disclaimer that shipping and insurance are not included. I tried using Wright's tracking tool as indicated in the email to see a detailed invoice, but that tool is not working for my order. Perhaps it will be updated on Monday.

Anyway, has anyone had any NP3+ work done through there recently? I am really wondering where that extra $55 came from.

Never had any work done there but I can speculate.
Your answer will probably be "sorry for the increase but it cost more to get the employee to come to work and increasing costs etc. Have heard this from many suppliers in the last 4 months. For instance a 21 foot piece of 1.25 inch threaded black Iron pipe went from$1.76 a foot to $10.89 a foot since January delivered to the shop door. Wonder how much higher things will go before everybody stops purchasing anything?

Yeah, I get that. In that case, though, the price list should be updated to reflect the new price. I’m going to send an email tomorrow.

Received the same Wright Armory email.
Have had several items done in NP3+ and Roguard over the years from both them and Robar.
Was entirely satisfied with both firms, so hopeful for @CopperFouling to have a good experience.

Yes…all prices quoted matched exactly to prices paid. There were no surprises from either vendor.

I was charged for disassembly of the two BCGs. I wish I would have known ahead of time that I was going to be charged extra for that, as I would have done it myself. (I had assumed that disassembly charges would be for complete firearms.) I made a bad assumption. It is what it is, but I can't say it's a good customer experience.

o_O $55 to 'disassemble" a pair of BCGs?

So this treatment takes an everyday $80-100 BCG, and turns it into something we'd rather have over an LMT made bolt, or any of the other slick/fancy $300+ BCGs?

For what it's worth, they were Daniel Defense BCGs.

NP3+ is good stuff. It's a top-notch coating for lubricity and corrosion resistance.

I'm not thrilled with the fee, but if the BCGs come back like they did from Robar, I'll be good.

I just sent the parts shown above disassembled and with chamber liner removed. Wright Armory installed a new chamber liner before returning parts to me.

So I have an update. Wright sent me this today.

Waiting for customer approval or clarification...

We are prepping your parts for NP3+ plating, and surface tested your firing pin and it appears to have a hard chrome plating on it. The chrome plating will need to be chemically stripped in order for the NP3+ to adhere properly to the base metal. We can chem. strip the firing pins and apply the NP3+, or leave the existing chrome plating as is. Chemical stripping would be an additional $80.

How would you like us to proceed?

I didn't think stock BCGs from Daniel Defense come with hard chromed firing pins, but it is possible. @taliv, you bought a V7 recently. Is your firing pin hard chromed?

I was going to call Daniel Defense to ask but the email arrived only a minute or so before Daniel Defense closed for the day.
