Lever Lovers

They are my preferred rifle. I currently have a Winchester 94 in 30-30. I’ve had a marlin 1894 in 357, a marlin 39, and several Henry’s, as well as a Winchester 9422 and several other 94s. I liked to trade when I was younger.

There is something different about using a leveraction than a bolt gun. Something pleasurable, satisfying, wholesome, down to earth. They speak to the soul.

I have a Winchester 30-30, got it as a kid. A couple years ago I bought a Rossi in 45 Colt and it has been a fun little carbine. Not a Henry, but 1/2 the price. I don't own a Henry...yet, but have shot a couple and they are really nice rifles.

Me, I love old Winchester lever actions and modern replicas. My favorite guns to shoot are the 1873 with black powder.

Loved it but gave my Winchester 94 to my son. I’ll always keep my Uberti 1860 Henry in 44-40. Blackpowder reloads of course. Such a satisfying rifle to shoot!

Lever guns are cool. I have three Henrys. I'd like to add to my lever guns, probably a Marlin or a Winchester, if I can find a nice used one in a caliber I want for a good price.

I only have two lever guns. Both are Marlins.

A 39AS bought brand new in 1994, and a 1894 CSBL bought brand new in early 2020.

I love shootin' 'em both for completely different reasons.

Speaking of loving lever rifles, here's an old M-94.30/30 that's hard not to love. Made in 1928 and dressed up by Griffin & Howe.

I guess it all began in about 1963 when I bought a 38-40 '92 Winchester for $35. Since I am left-handed, levers became my early choice, and it hasn't stopped.

I've always liked lever guns but somehow whenever I had some extra money it always seemed to go to something else. Then in 2001 I inherited a 1991 built Marlin 30AS in .30-30. It's a no frills, budget model 336 that was made for places like Wal-Mart. Walnut stained birch stock, no checkering, no front sight hood, no sling studs, etc..... But it's still a 336 and shoots like one. Makes me wish I had gotten a lever gun sooner. Then in 2018 I came across a Henry Mod. H-001 .22 lever gun on sale. Bought it on the spot. Takes 22 LR, 22 Long, & Short. It's a blast, works like a dream and is accurate. Had a Red Dot on it for about a year and it now has a set of fiber optics. Darn lever guns can be addictive. Now I keep thinking about lever guns in 44 Magnum.

Levers and pumps will always be my first love. Offhand, that is one gorgeous rifle. My levers are more modest and simple.

Yeah I just ran a quick count. I have 23 lever actions. Just got another this afternoon. A pre 64 Winchester 94. I can't help myself anymore just like em.

Love my levers. I have 2 Marlin Mod 39A's, 2 Marlin .444's and a 1929 Winchester mod 94.

I only like the kind that take pointy bullets......

...like my Henry Long Ranger with box mag, but there's a real drawback: the mag takes only five rounds, and an extended mag isn't possible because the one-piece lever + trigger guard articulates forward far enough for it to overlap the mag well.

My favorite lever was a Browning 1886 Winchester in 45-70 cal carbine. Smooooth action and very accurate. Sadly, it went bye-bye.
Now I am loving my Henry .22 lever. A fun little shooter !

Here's another pretty nice old time Winchester M-64 .30/30 lever rifle I found hiding out in my gun rack. It's what they advertised as the "Deer Rifle" grade with checkered stocks, sling swivels and curved steel buttplate. I've never shot it and don't think anyone else did either.

I’ve always loved lever guns as a kid, shooting my Dads Marlin 39A Golden Mountie and my Grandparents’ Win 1894 .30-30.

My first rifle purchase at 18 years old was a Win 1894 .30-30, I bought it at the now-closed Siegles Guns in Oakland, Ca.

I now have 13 levers, from a Henry Youth .22 LR to a Marlin 1894 CB .45/70 with the 26” octagon barrel.

My favorite is my Rossi R92 in .45 Colt; with those cigar-butt cartridges it’s a hoot to shoot and knocks my steel plates hard with minimal recoil. My most accurate is a Marlin 336 in .35 Rem. It will shoot cloverleaf groups at 100 yds with Rem 200 gr Core Lokt factory ammo. (It also loves the now-discontinued 150 gr pointed core lokt when they’re single-loaded in the magazine.) I can’t ask for a better 150 yard combo than the 336 and the Remington load.

I have an old 94 in 30-30 that is my favorite for sneaking through the woods. It's a long time favorite just to have.

Levers are fun to shoot and great lookers. I have a .22 and 45(LC) both Marlin's.. I put a scope on the .22 but can not bring myself to do it on a centerfire caliber. I think it ruins the lines and the looks of "wild west Americana"..... For precision shooting I go to my bolt actions.

Bought this one new from local hardware store with money I earned hauling hay in 6th grade. Bought the scope the next summer with money from working on a dairy farm. They haven't been apart since , been putting deer in the freezer since 1984 and still shoots like new.
