What’s the value of a mint condition S&W 3913? I have a mint condition 3913, serial #VAT****, 250-300 rounds through it, no
box and original factory sights. Any info is appropriated.

TBL004:

We know that some “start” or Buy Now prices on Gunbroker can be high.

Now that this is out of the way,…
do you know how to check for actual deal prices, using Advanced & Completed Auctions?

It’s far better than having no other info source for on “closed deals”.
:) At this moment, approx. $526-$600. Most photos of those which "Sold" -- appear -- to be in excellent or near-mint condition.

Without a box no true collector would bother. Yes some guys who “collect” “guns” will jump on a nice example, but that isn’t the same crowd. Hypothetically I’d pay $375 current day if in the market for one mainly because a few years ago you could find them for even less, and on a slightly longer timeline they may drop to that again.

That’s the reason for a box, btw; it’s distinguishes between one that was kept whole, in a clean place, quietly waiting to be found and bought and cherished, and yours that somehow must have ventured out of the house once or twice. Crazy, but collectors are an odd lot.

I wouldn’t call that “mint”. “Excellent condition” perhaps. I’d pay $400, but not more. I still see local gun stores with police trade 3913 for $375.

And mind you that price in no way detracts from the pistol and is no estimate of what others might be willing to pay. She’s still a beaut.

I would rate it as being in "Excellent" condition. "Mint" condition to me is more like close to being brand new in the box, with all the paperwork and accessories, with a few rounds through it.

I would go with somewhere between $450 and $600, given you find the right buyer for it.

Not worth selling, IMHO. Those are good shooters. Might as well enjoy it.

My Gen 3 is a good enough shooter that I wouldn't part with it for the $500 or so I'd be able to get for it.

An old friend of mine had a 3913 TSW years ago with the bold roll marks on the slide. The “TSW” moniker was marketing-speak for “Tactical Smith & Wesson.” The TSW pistols were the top of the line guns. They had slightly different sight packages and different checkering, and the later models all featured a tactical light rail. This same, basic gun was offered back in the day as a “standard” 3913. It was also offered as a “value model” 908 and 908S.

He bought his brand new back in the day, and I can’t remember exactly how much he paid for it, but the GS he got it from sold a lot of these. I remember this “TSW” 3913 as a really good shooter out of the box with good Novak sights and a very decent trigger. I also remember this gun had a mag disconnect, and a safety decocker that was too close to the slide racking serrations. I didn’t like either of these features.

Personally I like my Sig P6 and P239 better, and my CZ P-01 better, but I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a decent TSW with extra mags in the box for a decent price, if I could find one, which is probably unlikely.

One of my Gen. 3 S&Ws was sold to provide some of the cash for a nib Czechpoint VZ-58.

Am keeping the 908 (3rd. Gen.),so similar to the 3913 / 3914, plus the
Sig P225 (German, “pre-P-6”), Walther P99 and CZ PCR.

I came to deeply regret parting with my 3913, some time in the mid-Nineties. In 2018 or 2019, pre-panic-demic, I “replaced” it, with a well-preserved, pre-owned 3913 TSW, with an accessory rail. I do not recall the price, but ~$600, to ~$700, negotiable*, at an LGS in an expensive market. It being a TSW version, with an accessory rail, the very final version of the 3913, probably elevated the collectabiiity, and the price.

*As I am a known, regular customer, they usually negotiate.

I sold an identical one to that one, same condition, same grip with two magazines for $400 two years ago and it had sat on armslist for quite a while before it sold. But then again prices are higher right now so it should bring more now.

Thanks for the replies. I took the 3913 to the range yesterday and shot a few full mags. Figured I’d shoot it one more time before deciding on whether to sell it. Had a friend shoot it and when he was done said it was a soft shooter and accurate. Put one more full mag through it, agreed with him and decided to keep it. Been looking for an EDC to replace the 3913 and narrowed it down to three possible choices: Glock 43 MOS, Shield Plus and Sig 365. Shot my friends 365 and liked it but it seemed too small so a 365X may be in order.

3913’s are excellent guns. I’ve had several. I have a 3953 now. The OP’s gun should easily bring $500. Ones in as good a shape as his (I’ve never bought a heavily used gun) aren’t going to be in need of service. Replace the mag springs, recoil, and firing pin springs and the gun should never need anything else. Third Gen guns are tough and unless you abuse them they’ll never wear out.

You would be hard pressed to find an LE trade in that looks like the OPs gun. They are typically beat to hell and almost never a "steal".

I've been pretty lucky ;)

Got several LE veterans that, aside from mandatory grip dingage, are in spectacular shape.

OTOH, the the grungiest pistols have been non-LE...but "bringing em back" is fun.

...tho I did pass up a 6906 that looked like someone struck a
welding arc on the grip spur, below the hammer

Steve762us:

Last December an exception to the “heavily-used LEO” gun, maybe as unusual as your guns, was offered on GB.

It was in excellent condition with almost no visible wear, and I bought it.

This S&W 6904 had been an Israeli turn-in.
That fact might somehow explain why there were no other offers-despite clear photos.
