i shot at small rocks from 100 yards to 300 yards, with a a 700 rem CDL in .35 whelen, kimber hunter in 3006 and a ruger #3 in 45-70. all with full power hunting loads, only one other shooter at the range this morning. i didn,t hit all the rocks i shot at, the .35 whelen and 3006 did well in the hit department, however the 45-70 drop at the longer ranges was a minor problem as i had to shoot 2-3 times to get the right hold over. it was a fun morning, now to load up the empties.

Nice rifles. Nice range. Nice weather. No wonder you had a good time. I did the same thing this morning with two rifles that get used during deer season. Marlin 30-30 and a Kimber sporterized Swedish Mauser 6.5x55. Whenever I hunt a rifle zone I rotate between a few different guns. Also brought the Ruger Single Six Convertible with the 22LR cylinder in it and for grins the little Savage Rascal 22LR youth rifle that hasn't been out in a while.

Pretty place!

There is more green in that photo than there is in 250 square miles of desert east of me. :(

Looks like a great day was had, even with a couple of those shoulder thumpers in tow ;).

Stay safe.

I did the same thing a few days ago. I’m going to try to go again in the morning and fine tune my 257 Weatherby and zero my No. 1V in 300 Win Mag.
