So, I went in my LGS to scope out ammo.
They are still in their strange status quo where they have SD ammo in variety (if not necessarily economy), and no FMJ. (Did grab 9x19 STHP since it was $1.51/round, down from the $2@ I paid three months ago).

However, while the ammo shelves had a number of "Sorry no [ammo]" cards, the Used guns racks & shelves were full.

So, to tempt me, sorely, they have a decent Savage 1907 in .32acp--$600 plus tax.
And, a Colt 1903, on consignment, with the price marked down from $900 to $700. This last will probably nag at me no end.

Now, they also had an FN High Power at a good price, a couple of SIG P220s, and several Kimber 1911 clones. A really good selection, if needed to split hairs over just how good a deal they were, individually.

That 1903 is really teasing me

The Colt 1903 is fairly priced at 700 if it is in decent cosmetic condition. They don’t go too much south of that unless they’re completely roached. They also don’t go 900 and up usually unless they’re very nice.

I'd get the Hi Power if the price is decent, they're going nowhere but up in value. If it's a post war, blued external extractor model that is. :)

Springfield has come out with a made in USA all forged improved gorgeous New High power for a suggested list of $699 !
The 1903 is a very nice gun but $700 it should be 90% as .32acp ammo is rather hard to get and not popular.
I would not get a savage 1907, I have had a few of those different models and calibers and they all are rather funky IMHO.
Yes if the Sig 220 are German and Under or at $500 they are extremely nice guns, perhaps the most accurate .45acp factory non target guns and stone reliable.
Right now, strangely there are some good bargainsto be found. People are not buying the older weirder stuff, unlucky for me however :(

I've been wanting another 1903 since before I got rid of the one I had. The bluing was completely gone, as in polished off entirely. I always intended to replace it with a better one and a $700 one would have my attention pretty quickly.

Were the Sig 220s manufactured in Europe? (Swiss or G.).
You probably did not check, but it might be interesting.
I own both kinds already, so I always do.
All the US Model, one was one of the later Generations.
All a tad high at $800 & up.
Most I have paid for a P220 was $425, and that was the out-the-door price.

I think the 1903 has really jumped in value the last few years. A lot of people realized that they're awesome pistols with tons of history. I wouldn't sell my '03 for $700. If I found a really nice one for that I would be all over it. How a FN Hi Power sits in a shop @ $700 for more than a day is beyond me. Sure it's not a clone?

Had a Browning BDA in .45 ACP and it had no problem matching shot for shot with a Colt Gold Cup.
