Midway shipped my primers 6 days ago. As I heard nothing I e-mailed Midway today. It appears that all those highly skilled people allowed to touch " dangerous" items ( AT UPS) is all sick. I may hear something in 2 weeks--OH THE JOY.

They used to use FEDEX and their nitro shipping was real fast... even primers. But since the switch to UPS, everything takes longer just to get on the road. Ordered from Brownells and Midway in the same hour one time and Brownells had my package to me in 4 days and Midway was 10 days. I got Midways shipping notification UPS link a couple hours after I ordered. And for nearly a week it stated it was at the UPS facility... anyway... it's not the end of the world stuff but still pissed me off.

I smell an Opportunity for some fellas or lady’s who have a hazmat cdl to make some big bucks. If you are out of work. Not sure how anyone who wants a job not to be employed. My place is paying a $2000.00 sign on bonus after 90 days. It’s hard work. But someone has to make farm equipment.

When I saw the title the Talking Heads song “Life During Wartime” started playing in my head…just modified a bit.

“…Ain’t got no primers, ain’t got no powder, ain’t got no bullets to play…” :(

Stay safe.

Lol.

I was thinking almost the same, except a blues song.

"Ain't got no primers
...powder jugs are empty
...and my baby left me
...took all my brass too"

I've been shopping with them for ~17 years now, with at least 8-10 orders per year, and have never had anything shipped Fedex from them.
And thankfully so. Where I live, UPS is cheaper, faster, and vastly superior.
It must be a regional thing. Only recently have they used UPS around here. And UPS is the worst out here... no competition.

I had to comment here ... I just had a major run-in with FedEx because of a shipment from Brownell's. Long story short, driver claimed he came by here three times and couldn't deliver. We were here all three times. I called Brownell's and complained and it was escalated to Brownell's big dog lady that handles customer service shipping issues. She promptly got on the phone directly-to the local hub to me (51 miles away from me) and, next thing you know his shift manager was pulling into my driveway with the packages.

Here's the caveat.

I have 22 cameras on this property 15 of which are outside covering access from every angle. I told the ladies at Brownell's that and that I was willing to share the time stamped footage from all angles coming into the property, and they told my local hub that ... so when the manager showed-up I immediately pulled up the dates and times he requested and ... he only looked at the first three angles for two of the days and he told me to stop, he'dseen enough. He explained how hard it is to get good help, that they are having to sub-out a lot of deliveries, and that he was going to fire the driver when he got back to the hub. He said he had received a lot of complaints about the driver but my videos confirmed it .... plus they have GPS on their delivery trucks and some packages in particular are tracked but they have to have just cause to access that data and my cameras gave him just cause.

The main reason I have some of those cameras out there? The same thing happened with a UPS drivers some years ago delivering some Midway stuff and some Christmas gifts that didn't arrive in time before we left to see the grandkids for Christmas.

I keep saying it, everyone should have a doorbell cam and everyone should have at least one driveway cam, preferably two. They just come-in too handy these days, not to have a couple in service. And cameras don't lie. They're inexpensive you've got a ton of choices and you can layer things so that while one may be disabled the other one catches the disabler.

That's horrible

It sure was at the time. I've since covered my shop, my barn, my shooting range, all four corners of the main property and all the way around the main house plus we have cameras inside and out of my MiL's house ... cameras solved so many problems and concerns and lingering issues for us ... not the least of which was package delivery.

I know for a fact UPS drivers have it noted on my address that we habe cameras everywhere and now I guarantee you that FedEx will have it noted in there as well.

Heck one time, years ago, a Fed Ex driver turned around in the middle of our side yard and ran over my septic tank. Now, he admitted to-it and since then Fed Ex implemented and no turning around in the yard policy ... but had he not admitted it I dunno how that $6k mistake would habe turned-out.

The attitudes of some employees is reprehensible.

I had a shop, where I received a UPS or FedEx drop, 2-3 times a week.
FedEx would put label on door of missed delivery, to call for delivery.
UPS would see my truck parked around town and put the package in my truck or stop on his way back by.
90% of my orders were shipped UPS, at that time.

Attitudes of people, service will not improve.
But, I seriously doubt that mgr fired that driver.
He would be a driver down and most likely, already short handed. His days may be limited, but hiring a clone fixes nothing.

We are hiring like crazy. Half last less than a month. A quarter of them are totally worthless, barely show up, much less actually work. I have asked several managers why those morons haven' t been fired? "Because they are filling a hole."
Pitiful situation we are in.

I getcha Seedy ... my youngest Son works for Southeastern Freight. Great company, people are banging on their door to get-in ... but there are plenty of trucking and delivery companies in trouble. As I understand it the country is almost 90,000 drivers short of having enough right now and it is only getting worse.

I've got another buddy up in Charlotte who owns a brokerage ... he is about ready to-go nuts lately. Tons of goods to ship but not enough trucks to get'er done. He told me the reason for the safe shortage (yes, gun safes) east of the Mississippi is because of cost to ship and lack of willing companies ... something to-do with heavy load limits and gas prices etc. A truck load of safes must weigh a bunch and cost a ton to ship ... pardon the ton pun.

Fuel stays well below $2 for 3 years. Jumps to $3+ in 6 months and everybody wonders why EVERYTHING is going up.

A fully loaded trailer will vary from 20k to 80k pounds. Fuel costs matter. Pipelines matter. Domestic drilling matters. Energy independence matters.

Prices DID stabilize for a while, then took off running - yesterday we filled up a few miles north of this station for over $3.50 a gallon.
Hopefully primers will come back soon - I did find some locally for a brief shining moment, SPP and SRP for $6 a box of a hundred, bought all I could. Not enough to run for very long, but I'll keep on keeping on.

I empathize. I’ve been looking for LRPM for a while. I can occasionally find them online but only in bricks. None in any LGS.
These would be for hunting with my .300wm and honestly one sleeve would be a ten year supply. I hate to buy a 100 year supply in a brick. Lol
