AR: A1 Rifle Question

That's a hard one to me at least. No familiarity and google makes it hard as there are (aside from Caterpillar) plenty of Black Cats and other Cat branded things making it hard to search. Anyone else know?

Century Arms something?

Oh, could be. They did at least some C15s sold as the "Centurion C15" with a CIA prefix. For their official name, Century International Arms.

These were still made in someone else's factory (Olympic?) but was a custom run so Century got their own serials. Yes, sure, could be "Century Arms T-word" to be a different series for their own ID or just to allow a separate numerical series (a thing that happens for serials).

Found some lists of AR-15 serial ranges, but none with CAT in them yet.

A couple years ago you could buy a Malaysian A1 parts kit for around $300. All the bluing was worn off and they looked rough. People were buying new production NoDak A1 style receivers and a 20 inch barrel to make a complete rifle.

No experience with the CAI A1s. But my C308 runs like a champ. They were made from Spanish surplus and US made parts from PTR. My CAI '56 Romy SKS is the gun i trust most out of all of em. 10k some rounds through it with maybe two light cleanings, and it still eats any ammo I feed it, and reliably pokes holes in a 6" square at 75 yards.

This was a $300 surplus kit without the barrel or lower receiver 2 yrs ago. I was able to buy a 1/9 pencil barrel. It’s very accurate and runs like a top. Really light weight also.

I'm sure when mine is assembled it will be a lot more than $300. I should have bought a kit years ago and stuck it on an Anderson lower until I was able to get this:

80 % H&R Receiver.jpg

As close as I will ever get to my service rifle; H&R marked 80% lower with my issue rifle's S?N on it. Even has safe/semi/auto markings for the selector. Now to find the rest of the rifle.......
