I have some nice knives designated for dressing game. And a couple of nice kitchen knives. These are expensive knives. Money well spent.

For day to day I carry a box knife in my pocket. It cuts wire, nylon, rope, boxes, baling twine, used for prying, and taking out my frustration on hard to open packages.

I have (3) of these. The third came yesterday. Along with Stanley FatMax blades this is a priceless tool to me.

Civivi makes a really cool box knife. You can even get Damascus blades for it!

I carry a Stanley model 99 in a Specter Gear magazine carrier when I’m toodling around the house doing chores on the weekend. It used to live in my back pocket, but the blade end wore a hole in it. During the week, I wear my Buck 110 to work in an open top scabbard.

Off-on I carry this but find it requires two hands to open because it is so stiff. That Klein looks good. How is the action on that to open/close?

Stanley 199 for me. I gave up on the retractable 99 after slicing my hand open too many times reaching into a tool box

I carried that extensively for a couple few years. Office work friendly. I took off the clip one of them to be more pocket friendly.

It's been through airports several times too.

Here's a pretty handy and extremely compact utility knife that takes standard blades.

The blade locks in place when extended and is held in place while closed by a strong magnet. It works very well but it is very small so getting a real grip on it for heavy work just isn't going to happen.

Every working day, brother.
Cutting, scraping, everything.....I dont hold back on this one. Usually just replace the blade when it gets really dulled, but they actually take a nice edge when sharpened. View attachment 1036730
I also carry a leatherman wave at work, but this old Gerber gets the bulk of the cutting , and all the abuse. I even have a spare!View attachment 1036731

I carry this same knife. Small but still big enough to get a good grip on.

I have thought about getting one of the knifes that take disposable scalpel blades. A couple of the scalpel blade holders have come out that have one handed assisted opening which I really miss in my box knife.

Only if I have my nail apron on. I have a Stanley No 199 in there but otherwise it's a multi-tool and maybe a locking folder to go with.

My son-n-law found a utility knife while crawling in the space above a store. Later he replaced it with one of these. After him praising the utility of it I bought one. That was some years ago, I still carry it daily. It’s always sharp and does everything I ask of it. b5eced4b2b3cda316488ccf0ebea02e7-large.jpg

I might say that all my knives are utility knives, since opening boxes is what they mostly do, regardless of whether it was a $0.50 box cutter or a $550 Hinderer LOL.

It also occurs to me that most of the boxes they open contain other knives.

Maybe I have a problem.

Nah.

I found one while I was working in an attic about 10 or so years ago. It was a Husky or Kobalt model if memory serves, and it was a great little work tool for opening boxes and cutting/scraping jobs. The last place I saw it was in my truck toolbox, but that stuff is all in a bunch of grocery bags in the garage due to me selling the truck. I will have to dig it out and replace the blade and use it again.

No. I carry a Victorinox German solder knife.(modern version). But I have a Sears Craftsman like in the pic. I took it from a abusive boyfriend my daughter had. He threatened her with it and slashed tires. I have it now and am lucky to not be in jail.

I use one at work all the time.

I don’t like the Klein auto loading because it’s so thick and heavy. Milwaukee makes a nice light one that I’ll probably try next. The other guys seem to like Stanley or husky.

I don't carry one on me any more, but I have nice folding cutters with lock blades in my shed, garage, and range box. I learned the value of these things when I was a CQB/shoot house instructor, when I always needed to cut things like cardboard and paper targets, 550 cord, zip ties, open copenhagen cans, etc. without using my "good" knife and turning it into a letter opener every day. I kept my box cutter in one of the pistol mag pouches on the chest of my body armor, since I didn't need to carry mags as an instructor in the shoot house.
