Just wrapped this build up today. Only needs a sling, red dot, & maybe a light. Started it last year, but other priorities kept me from finishing it (including my son's birth in July!)

Our delightful commonwealth forbids keeping a loaded rifle in the car (anti-poaching law) but allows a loaded pistol so long as you have a license to carry. 556 is anemic enough without neutering it by chopping the barrel, but this still beats a 9mm ccw should things ever get wild.

If braces get 86ed by the ATF, taking it off is easy enough, but it will be much more difficult for my wife to use should she ever need it, which was sort of the whole point of building it.

Looks great, how's the rosco barrel, a place near me has some but shop was to busy to let me look at it.

No idea how it shoots yet. Bought after seeing/reading a lot of favorable reviews. Sage Dynamics & GarandThumb had good things to say too. For $126 shipped (had a 10% off coupon from GarandThumb) I figured it was worth a try. The original plan was to spring for a Noveske CHF/CL barrel, but since the upper isn't a thermal fit & everything else in the build is mid tier, a $400 barrel didn't seem justified. Working on convincing myself not to buy an Aimpoint for it for the same reason lol.

Nitride finish looks really good & seems tougher than the nitriding I've seen on some other barrels. Didn't even scratch when the gas block slipped when I was installing the gas tube & banging on the roll pin.

Gas Block journal has tighter tolerances than some others I've seen.

Has me thinking about picking up an HBAR 16 inch version when they become available.

This shop has nice 16" looked like a socom contour think they wanted $140. When I get the money I want to build a other or firearm whatever the real name is, just to get around are "safe act" so I'll need a pistol brace to, I may use one of these barrels.

Yeah, I'm starting to toy with the idea of a 13.7 pin/weld. I WILL spring for the Noveske for that one.

You don't need a red dot to see h
Not yet. Want to put a red dot on it first & I'm stuck in analysis paralysis.
You don't need a red dot to fest your rifle. You don't even know if it will fire. There is no way I could hold off and not shoot my new gun for any length of time lol.

BTW, I got my AR pistol partly for the same reason you did. We can't have a loaded long gun in the car. (hate that but as you know we do what we legally can...)

Don't NEED a red dot to test fire, but if I can test & zero at the same time, I'm happy to save the ammo money! (Especially with a 5 month old baby at home)

Anyway, brought it along with me to the range today to function check.

It works.

Excellent, I'm glad to hear your build works well. Congratulations Sir...

So, the Romeo4s arrived & for the money, I'm really impressed. They are assembled in the US (I know, internals are likely ChiCom but "assembled" is close enough for me). The supplied QD mount is nicer than the Aimpoint factory QD mount that came with my CompM5 &, here's the kicker, this thing has less blue tint than the CompM5. All at 1/3rd the price. I have a well known disdain for Sig USA but the quality for value is there. I like it so much I'll be buying a Romeo4t for my SA M-7s next week.
