Last January I ordered a CZ 527 Varmint heavy barrel in 6.5 Grendel. Absolutely gorgeous rifle that turned out to be a stinker. Inaccurate, bolt is hard to operate, a burr on the feed ramp that scraped the copper off the rounds.

I made arrangements to send it in for repair in late October. I had been getting weekly status emails until yesterday. I was advised that my copy falls outside their accuracy standards and will have to be replaced, but since the 527 is one of the models being replaced with he new 600 lineup, that may not be realistic. A link to the CZ 600 catalog was included in my email, and I’ve been offered a replacement from any of the 4 variations at no up charge.

This looks like customer service on a higher level to me.

Insist they send you another 527. Yeah, they're being discontinued, but they can find a good one for you. My 527 American in 7.62x39 is one of the best performing rifles I've ever owned. It was made in January of 2021. There are still plenty of new in box 527s out there in many calibers. Stand your ground... make them do some work to find you another... or insist it go back to the factory for rehabilitation. I wouldn't have any of their new models.

I wasnt stoked on my 527s after a while (similar issues tho accurate enough), the guy who bought it is stoked with it tho.
Id rather have the 600 personally.

CZ went from good looking rifles to the 600 series. If I had loose money right now, I would buy a 527 in 7.62x39 I saw brand new on the web two days ago for they will not come back, I am afraid. Unfortunately, at this time, I chose to pass and I don't like it. Still, it's in the back of my head. OP, if you like the new offering, good for you. If not, as already suggested, hold your ground!

I have a 527 in 7.62x39, a 457 in .22lr, I like them both. Thanks for the stand my ground suggestion but after having had the rifle I’ll welcome the new model.

I’d get that 527 back and have a real gunsmith fix it up. It’ll soon be worth more than you paid for the rifle and repair, IMHO.

I guess if the 600 design is a good fit to your needs, then the deal is a good one. The bottom line comes down to whatever you're happy with.

For myself, I'd ask whether they could substitute a different 527 package from their available inventory, perhaps in a different chambering if that's all that is still available from CZ.

I won't really know until I've examined one, but the 600 Series action would appear to be very different animal from the svelte little 527; no doubt better suited to some roles but not a direct substitute.

In that case it looks like you've got yourself a 600. I didn't get that your post was good news. We like what we like... be happy and best of luck. As for me, my relationship with CZ is over now that the 527s are being phased out.

I like precision target rifles, and I have the chassis platform already, so I’m liking the idea of a ten pound heavy barrel rifle that’s blued & wood and adjustable comb. I’m actually getting kinda excited about it. And 6mm Creedmoor to boot.

I like CZ's current handguns just fine, but for rifles I'm stuck on the BRNOs, 452s, 527s, and 550s. And among these, the earlier the proof year, the better they suit me.

I have all of the afore-mentioned models that I can reasonably justify, so it doesn't personally impact me that they have "modernized" to the point that they are now producing what is essentially well-executed examples of the Ruger American and other "modern" rifles. Fortunately, anyone who prefers the more classic/old school build and finish instead of the current 457s and 600s can easily find whatever they want on the open market. Most of them will cost a bit more than they used to, but they are routinely available for anyone with a little patience and searching.

That said, I think the 600 series will appeal to a lot of people and will be a successful line, sales wise.

Good reason to be excited as it should be expected to shoot very well. The Varmint weight CZs are very accurate, IME, and enjoyable to shoot. My 550 Varmint in .308 is the most satisfying target gun I've ever owned because it just stacks round after round into tight groups. The 527 Varmint is also accurate (a tenth of an inch or so behind the 550 at 100 yards) but it is MUCH more picky about ammo.

(The 600 series isn't blued, BTW.)

I can attest CZ builds some of the most accurate rifles I have shot. Glad you are getting something you want and an upgrade at that. Never look a gift horse in the mouth. I will never sell my CZ 550 FS in 9.3x62. It is the 2nd most accurate rifle I own shooting consistent MOA no matter the bullet weight. Enjoy and shoot well.

Get them while you can. Never know when they may stop supporting them after discontinuing models.

The 600 line does peek my interest but not thrilled with the cheek piece as I'm a lefty.
I did hit the jackpot and got a left handed 527 in 223. I'd ask for the rifle back and have a smith go over it. The 527s were always hard to come by I got lucky have 5 total 2 in 7.62x39,2 in 6.5 Grendel and the previously mentioned 223.

I am bummed that they are discontinuing the 527. I feel like the last few years they were made a little cheaper. Wasn't a fan of my later production 223 carbine with the fiber optic sight. Shot pretty well but just felt like it had a little less soul

I won 4 527's but have zero interest in the 600 line

CZ is heading down the same path that ruined Reminington and Winchester before them. Making guns cheaper with more plastic and less soul. As for me I will continue to buy their products, just the models of my liking on the used gun market.

CZ co. knows that their quality rifles bring to the brand. What they do is as always take out in this case 527 for a while and bring later with higher prices and maybe different wood or configs ala 452 22cal.
They don't wait for a good sale product to be dormant.
