I have been given several .45 cal. Cvs muzzle loader kits that the previous owners could not complete.
I finished them and now have a few nice guns. Guess what, there are no serial numbers on them.
So, in case of theft, I think I should put some type of number on them for insurance purposes.
I was thinking, maybe part of my home address numerals or zip
Then where should put them? Barrel, butt plate?
I do have a complete set of Alphabetical letters and number's punch sets.
Your thoughts?

Your first and last initial plus a #. Serialized and personalized. This is sometimes done on custom guns.

Be careful with the stamps. You don't want to distort the barrel. Small chance but still. I would suggest on the bottom flats at the breech. The breech plug would support the barrel.

Perhaps also on the wood under the tang, buttplate or trigger guard. Some place hidden in case the barrel has been removed.

By all means stamp some numbers on them if you want to, but I don't see any reason why you would need to for insurance purposes.
There are LOTS of guns out there without serial numbers.
Do you have a special rider with your insurance company for your guns?
Most insurance policies limit the base coverage of firearms on your homeowners policy to $1000 - $5000 dollars which for many folks is just 1 or 2 guns. The rest are not covered.
