Shield Arms Z9 Magazine For The Glock 43

I got an email today from Shield Arms tentatively announcing a new magazine for the Glock 43. They are stating that the magazine is the same size as a factory with pinky extension, but holds 9 rounds. I love my Glock 43 and this would be an interesting development. Judging by the release of the S15, I will not hold my breath. They did not give a definitive date for release, but they did say the magazine will be metal, is best used with a metal magazine catch, and will have an extention of some sort.

Hopefully these will work out.

I haven’t put the shield magazines in my 43X, so far I’ve stuck to the OEM versions. I have a 43 and I’ll be picking up a 48 at some point after the waiting period is over, maybe it’s a matter of time before I swap to the shield mags.

Several co workers have them in their OD 43X and 48 guns and like them, does the metal mag release damage the plastic-bodied OEM versions or are they compatible without issues? The guys who swapped haven’t used their OEM mags since switching so I don’t know how they interact.

Per Shield Arms a metal mag release will damage OEM magazines. I have a 48 and 43X and use the Shield Arms magazines. I did have some feed issues with one of my magazines from them using a metal mag release from another manufacturer, however I replaced the mag release with one from Shield Arms and have had no problems since then.

Cool, thanks for the info. I may just hold off on swapping if they’re not compatible and cause damage.

I have not had the opportunity to try the S15 as I am currently in CA. My buddies in AZ love them. I run the factory 10's in my 48/43X. I really don't have a problem with 10 rounds in a 43X, but more rounds is always nice.

I have tried the Mag Guts +2 in my 43, but a spring broke on one of them which killed the magazine. I switched everything back to factory stock with Taran Tactical +1's and have had no problems. I have pretty big hands so the TT base or the factory Glock pinky extension are a must for me. Foolishly I did not put my 43 on my CCW application, mostly because it would be so hard to replace while I finish up my time here in CA. I kind of wish I did now.

I am going to let these magazines get out in the wild and see how they work out. If they prove reliable then I would consider making the switch to them, including the mag catch.

I used S15s without issues through about 1200 rounds in a 43X. Recently I changed over to a 43X MOS. The new gun had about a 3-4 percent failure rate on the Shield mags. I'm sticking with OEM.

I'd be willing to give these a try for a 43, but like any other carry gun or critical accessory I wouldn't put it to work without thorough testing.

I have 4 S15s that I've run 2000-3000 flawless rounds through and I also installed Shield's aluminum mag release. I often use my plastic OEM mags on the range and have had no problems at all with them, including extra wear and tear.

I have the S.A. mag release and 15 round mags for my G 48, they all work great. The new mags for the 43 should be a good addition.
Had been thinking about getting a 43 but wanted the longer barrel.

Always leery of aftermarket magazines, tho' some folks seem to be having real success with them.
Actually, I'd love to see Glock abandon its poly/steel mags for plain steel, opening up space for more rounds a la SIG 365.
But then, I could just get a 365...and I did....
