Rising Material Costs Induce Vista Outdoors Ammunition Price Increases
December 21, 2021

Dear Customer:

Thank you for your business and for your continued support of American jobs and manufacturing. As we continue to see supply chain constraints and increases in our raw materials, we are increasing our pricing to help offset those rising costs.

Effective 4/1/2022, CCI, Federal, Hevi–Shot, Remington, and SPEER ammunition will take the following price increases:

  • Primers – 5%
  • Powder – 5%
  • Handgun – 2-8%
  • Rifle – 3-8%
  • Shotgun – 3-12%
Additionally, due to continued demand, NO new Primer orders will be accepted until further notice.

Unless you notify us to cancel an order, we will reprice all existing and future orders shipped on or after 4/1/2022 to the new prices.

You will receive your finalized price list no later than March 15th, 2022.

Thank you for your continued support of our brands and our American workforce.

Jason R. Vanderbrink

President, Ammunition

Given the current annualized CPI as reported by the BLS is 6.8 percent, the announced ammo price increases are rather modest, and in some cases amount to price decreases, relative to the CPI, so the producer is to be commended for pricing restraint, IMO.

Well ... can't say we didn't see that coming. That must have been a correspondence sent-out to their wholesale buyers, their middle men and distributors ... it wasn't meant for the general public imho, but who knows.

I believe most dealers expect price adjustments around the first of the year. A four month lead is good, and I don't think many orders will be cancelled to avoid the increase. It's good to see more product on the shelves.

I was in a store just yesterday that had plenty of ammo.
Remington brand 308 win was 40.00 a box of 20.
Norma brand 308 win ammo was 24.00 per box of 20.
I have no brand loyalty to Vista outdoors.

Those prices reflect wholesale cost to the retailers. From what I see around here, the retail prices on ammo and components has risen much more than 2-12%.
:D

I called one of the local LGS because I heard they had 5.7x28, and yes they did. 4 boxes of Federal FMJ... for $109 a box. I think the FN five seven will be up for sale soon, barring a miracle. Great handgun, but not at over $2 a round.

So Vista is saying no primers will be available which has me greatly concerned. The question I have now is does that include percussion caps? If it does I'm just gonna order that cap maker now and stop putting it off, I want to shoot more black powder stuff in the Spring.

Not only are primers apparently going to be nearly totally unavailable, the difficulty of reloading the 5.7 makes it an easy choice for a caliber to never buy into.

Good luck selling that FN, you'll need it.

Yep. If reloading wasn't so difficult, it wouldn't be a problem, I still have 400 rounds left for the FN, so I have time to wait, and knowing me, I don't ever get around to selling a gun, just keep adding more. A sickness, I know.

Let’s see 5% increase on primers, but you can’t buy them anyway. Please explain.

Hmm . As I recall Vista was crowing about how getting Remington back on line would resolve the ammunition and component shortage.
