Pick up my new Glock 36 tomorrow

Agree. I am looking forward to it. Side note; I have a Kydex Concelament Express IWB holster for it. The Glock 19 fits the holster.

Nice! I’m liking the slimline Glocks, they seem to fit my paws much better than the subcompact double stacks ever did.

Let us know how it shoots for you when you pick it up and get a chance to run some rounds through it .

Stay safe.

Love mine. I had to dremel material off the trigger guard where it met butt or it killed my middle finger knuckle. Might just be my hands though.

The mags are tight in the magwell. They do not drop free. Any suggestions? I was wondering if I should sand them down a bit?

The G36 and G48 are the only Glocks I really like and own. Great gun and super accurate.

Have the problems with them been worked out ? If so , what was it that was causing them to fail ?

I do the same with all my Glocks, just a touch of the dremel sanding wheel to the right side of the trigger guard and under the spot where it meets the grip. The factory radius on the trigger guard is a blister-causer for me, too.

Is the Glock 36 basically a Glock 42 / 43 in .45 ACP?

Interested.

I wish , but seriously no it is not. It is about the same size and thickness of a Glock 19 but only holds 6 rds in the magazine. Too big for me to only hold that few. Now if it were thinner , it may be nicer. I am hoping that Glock will make a Glock 48 size in 45acp. The only thing about the 36 that REALLY bugs me is the sketchy history it has. For lots of years it was the only Glock model that was known to be unreliable. Good examples of it were hit and miss. Some people have reliable ones and other have unreliable ones.

My mags drop if I push release and jerk up a bit. Biggest thing may be your finger touching the mag.

Leave the base pad on, and go ahead and sand them down. 0.5mm on each side will do it.

I use metal Dawson pads. Sometimes Carver.

My G34.4 had that issue. Other Glocks drop fine.

Congrats on a great gun! I have a 30SF, which is definately fatter, but one of my favorite Glocks. It shoots surprisingly soft and is very accurate. I have to relieve the underside of the trigger guard as well. I start where the trigger guard meets the frame and use a round dremel wheel to remove some material form that area. Then I use the same wheel to go forward from rear to front and make a slight slope. This gets my hand a bit higher on the gun and gets rid of the contact on my knuckle. Enjoy your 36!

This is frequently mentioned re: the Glock 30, something I have personally noticed as well - maybe the barrel’s so short, only 25% of the powder gets burned

I was wondering if the Glock 36 exhibits the same level of shootability.

Interestingly, the G30 and G36 have longer barrels than an officer sized 1911. 3.78" vs. 3.0".

Speaking of 3" barreled 1911s in .45 ACP, in my hands I've had more jams in the 1911s than in the G36. In my limited experience, of course.

Shootability? The 36 isn't the hardest recoiling gun out there, but making follow up shots are not too different than shooting a steel 6-shot snub nose .357 magnum revolver.

Had it out yesterday and put 50 rounds downrange. The mags do drop free. Before I took it out, I disassembled and cleaned. Not that it needed it. But I use Hornady One Shot lube and I sprayed the mags and magwell. One Shot dries and lubes very well. No problems. It has a bit of a kick. After the first two mags, I put on shooting gloves.

My G36 is one of my favorite guns I own. It's always fun to shoot, and for me very accurate. It is also my primary carry piece. I have slimmer guns that carry more ammo, but the G36 is a great gun and I shoot it well. Mine looks just like Chiccarones with the Hyve extension. Mine also is sporting an old fading set of Trijicon tritium sights.

Mine was unreliable.

On three occasions, one of the cross pins that held the trigger group in place broke, leaving the gun non-functional. I shot that gun a lot, carried it, competed in IDPA with it, etc. But after all those failures I couldn't see keeping it around. Certainly not carrying it.

This was at least fifteen years ago. I'm sure Glock has solved all G36 problems in that time.
