I really like the different almost retro (or?) look of that. Extended dust cover and all. I'll be interested to see more on your project. Very cool and "that's just my game".
I have had a long and many would say sordid history with compensated, muzzle breaks, and barrel weighted pistols for competition, recreation, both functional and/or aesthetic, but mostly for fun and 'because I could' dating way back to the late 80's when I saw my first bowling pin comped gun. Anyway, I don't have very many (still a lot to some I suppose) anymore and I've not made or modded any of my own for at least a decade but I still am interested in them.
Yeah, that's a fun looking project!

It's getting weirder... wanted just a bit more weight at the muzzle, but seriously didn't want to make a whole new steel weight. That's just a PITA with my mill not working. Added aluminum to the dust cover and trimmed it until the desired weight was achieved. Fortunately this gun isn't about looks. Honestly? I kinda' love it and kinda' hate it, but I love the way the gun feels now.
Yep, and it's unrefined looks are very reminiscent to early comp and muzzle weighted mods of the 80's. Many of them were also love/hate projects as well. I like the raw look but functional outcome. I'm an odd duck, but I like the looks.
Here is a pic I grabbed off the net literally over 15 years ago for visual reference when I was modding my own more modern styled comp guns. The likeness (basic form/style) to yours is what I'm saying drew me to your pics. Might give you some add'l ideas... Don't hate me ..lol

Wow. No two alike, and not a .40 among them. Damn nice BHP collection. I just bought my first one last week, put a set of Hogue Cocobolo grips on it today. Mine's .40S&W.

I got the slide for my M&P 40 compact (1.0) milled by DP Custom Works. Added Apex trigger and carry kit.
I have a CMP 1911 that came in 2019. Ithaca frame from 1943 and Remington Rand slide.

Looks Great! What year was yours made, since it has the ring hammer, and your slide stop is color matched but the hammer isn't. I really like the grips, too, are they Hogues?

Bangswitch, don’t know the year my .40 BHP was made, bought it new around 1997. It started life as a practical. It has had the slide hard chromed to match the frame, milled for Henie sights, trigger job and Cylinder and Slide thumb safety.
The standard recoil spring is twenty pounds, I’ve dropped down to 18 pounds and only shoot my light loads. 180 gr. Flat nose and a low end powder charge makes it shoot like a soft ball 45. And yes the grips are Hogues.
