They have a good price on a Bergara BMR, even with their $20 shipping. I've never done business with them, have you? What has been your experience?

Payment is CC not that crazy Zelle or bitcoin. They appear legit.

I've ordered from them once (that's kind of an indicator) it was a Geissele Trigger and it took a while to get here. When it did ship, it shipped from a 3rd party on day 28 after ordering.

Reviews call them a drop ship company, meaning no inventory. Check out their Facebook page for reviews. From what I've read, their prices are good, but be prepared to wait.

I have and yes, they are legit.

When I wanted to order Burris FF E1 6.5-20x50mm scope, Dack Outdoors had the lowest price of $169 + $9 shipping on gundeals search.

Surprised and suspicious of lowest price that was like $20 below most others, I did a quick search on customer comments and found out they are small drop ship operation with slow ship time (But products shipped).

This is timeline for my order from Dack Outdoors chronicled in this thread - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...20x-50mm-169-9-shipping.893341/#post-12061424
  • 08/13/21 - Order placed
  • 08/16/21 - Inquiry made on Dack Outdoors FB messenger
  • 08/17/21 - Response via FB messenger as indicated (Reply in 1 day)
  • 09/09/21 - Order shipped email
  • 09/20/21 - Order received

Very helpful, thank you, sir.

Their website clearly indicates shipping takes up to 30 days, because they are a family operated business. They say nothing about being a drop ship company. However, I understood that up front, and I was OK with that. I'm in no rush and like saving money, just over $100 even with their $20 shipping. I made the purchase, and I appreciate the info. It makes me feel more secure with my purchase decision.

Which is one of the lamest things I've ever read. I'm a family operated business.....I don't take a month to ship.
There are two big reasons why shipping would take so long:
1. They are inundated with orders and working 24/7/365 to fulfill. Palmetto State Armory is an example.
2. They have nothing in stock. Once you pay, they place an order with a distributor. Distributor either drop ships to buyer or ships to this retailer who repackages and ships to customer.

They say nothing about being a drop ship company.
Of course they don't. They have nothing in stock and will take your $$$ and eventually decide to have a distributor ship to you.

Please keep us updated.
Be aware of what your credit card requires for chargebacks in the event the seller keeps pushing back delivery times.

The month long shipping time many customers commented did concern me at first but I was not in a hurry to get the scope (I have like 10 new in box scopes on my shelves). So small family run business that drop ship at much lower price did not bother me.

And as indicated on their website/Facebook page, Facebook messenger inquiry was responded to the next day to confirm slow shipping but I would receive email notification when my scope shipped (And I did).

At the time of order, $169+$9 shipping for Burris FF E1 6.5-20x50mm seemed too good to be true when most retailers sold around upper $200s and closest online competitor was around $190+shipping. Had I found another vendor who sold within a few dollars but shipped in 3-5 business days, I would have ordered from a different vendor.

UPDATE: The rifle arrived yesterday, and I picked it up today. 44 days to get to my LGS, but one week of that the rifle was held unmoving at some USPS location. So let's say it took about a little over 5 weeks. Again, I was in no rush to get this rifle in my hands, but would I do it again? Nope. It just doesn't seem proper that Dack Outdoors charged my CC 45 days ago, and I had to wait all that time...and I saved way less than I had thought because either other sellers' prices came down or I didn't look well enough when I was shopping for it. Full disclosure, the rifle was what I ordered, and arrived in good shape. Lesson learned.

Well that is a blessing that you did get it and it is in good condition

I read the reviews and understood them to be a dropshipper. I ordered a Magpul PRS Lite AR15 stock from them on January 28. Today I received a follow up email saying that my order is now "processing," meaning that one of their fulfillment partners has my order and will ship shortly. I should receive a separate email when it actually ships.

This order was an experiment for me. They offered a very good price on an item I didn't need immediately. I'll be interested to see how long it takes from order to delivery. What seems a bit smarmy is that they advertise such products as "in stock." Maybe, but not in stock at their location. And that makes you wonder why it takes so long from order to fulfillment.

My concern is that any business that charges your card long before it ships works like a ponzi scheme, and ultimately someone will be left holding the bag. It's one thing when the dealer has skin in the game, quite another when it's your skin.

I disagree. A Ponzi scheme is out and out fraud, this isn't. In this case, its a small home based business that likely operates on the thinnest of margins, has little or no cash and probably no credit terms with distributors.

Its not uncommon to "charge your card" immediately on ordering. Amazon does it. WalMart does it.........and I'm not talking about the stuff they warehouse, but the third party vendors who ship directly to you.

So if the item never arrives, who gets stuck? Depends on your credit card issuer and their terms.

I would hazard a guess that you ship promptly, Tom, as do Amazon and Walmart. Hence my qualifier "charges your card long before it ships". When the item isn't shipped until weeks or months later, the opportunity for the Peter principle, greed, creditors, and other misfortune is going to catch someone out. And please note that I didn't call it a ponzi scheme, I drew a parallel, because unless held in trust, the money from the purchase may be used to fulfill earlier orders or pay other obligations. My intent was not to disparage small operators, but to point out additional risk when shipping happens eventually.

It appears to come down to time VS money.

DAK appears to be reliable, whether saving $$ in exchange for time is worth it is a personal thing.

Personally I didn't like the:

We’re a small, family-operated business with near-wholesale pricing. This has caused a surge in order volume. Because of this, some shipments may take up to 30 days.

disclaimer, because IMHO it's being used to conceal their actual business model. So in my case I take the American tradition of voting with my feet.

YMMV as they say.

I wholeheartedly agree Chuck.
If business is sooooooooo good, hire help.
I think it a bit disingenuous to claim shipping delays are due to "small family-operated business" and "surge in order volume", when you aren't even the one fulfilling the order.

Or perhaps being able to be competitively priced to offer the lowest "gun deals" prices to make sales, perhaps staffing salary needed to be reduced as business operations model. ;)

But that also could mean delayed order processing time limited staff could handle each day. :)

While I have grown accustomed to lighting fast Amazon Prime free shipping, for significant savings on items I don't need right away, I don't mind waiting.

I was scratching my head about the bolded also!
