Your Dream Revolver

Not a custom gun at all...a Smith & Wesson Model 29-1 or -2 just like Harry Callahan carried in San Francisco (Dirty Harry DEFINITELY would not exist today ((not that he really did then))). Not just the revolver but also the holster that he used in the movies; I am 6'4" so I can conceal it (somewhat). :D

I have a Bianchi X-15 holster. Bought new in 1979.

Makes a 7 1/2" Super BlackHawk, somewhat comfortable to carry. Not so comfortable when driving.

Except i want a functional FA switch and belt feed... Might as well throw a can on it too for fun. And im not even a glock fanboy: only have one.

Hah! In all reality i have some of the most sought after revolvers made in the 20th century: SW14-4, Colt Python, pair of Colt Diamondbacks, a Colt Shooting Master, New Service, etc. I would like if the Shooting Master wasnt beat to death.

This is a curiosity and conversation post.

If you could have any one (1x) revolver built to your specifications, what would it be ?

My personal choice would be a USFA SAA, in .45 Colt, w/ a 3” tapered barrel, birdshead grip, Bisley hammer, and hook style front sight, with extended base pin, total coverage engraving by any given master; and built as a Sheriff’s Mdl- milled flat where the ERH would normally protrude through the frame…

Not to over do it... But, I found it... my Dream Revolver, and yet, know next to nothing about the specs... No spec sheet... 357 mag, 6" barrel-Rockwell C value of 54., 6 shot, fluted cylinder, pinned barrel, recessed chamber face... . adjustable trigger screw with indicator dial... right side frame, cylinder swivel button... nice adjustable sights front and back... German Walnut grips... Magnetic disk cover over grip mounting screw... Right side lower frame cylinder removal button... Rectangular futuristic barrel... Dark blue, Shiny... Nice crisp action... 1.5 - 6# adjustable trigger... Hammer strike constant... etc... Very. hardened steel... DA/SA... Nice case and comes with a manual... and screwdriver...

I could have never dreamed or thought this one up... and yet, here. it is... or will. be... Arriving next week...

I did not even know this type of handgun existed 7 days ago... S&W Performance Center was the most I ever dreamed of...

Since, we are talking about dreams... the lines of the rectangular barrel and reverse angled sights... create a "railgun" futuristic. effect... in my eyes... And this then combined with the fluted cylinder, from old... just does it for me... Especially. how the lines connect... Well, everything as to color and finish is self-evident... How the Janz is, in hand... is beyond my reckoning... given what I have read ... I will definitely be growing into this handgun... Looks like a good teacher...

I'm curious about this comment, The overwhelming majority of revolvers produced in modern times and in days of yore have fluted cylinders.

I guess it. is based on my new view into "high end" revolvers... where many are non-fluted... and not just with larger calibers... or 6++ shots... It is done for a more modern look, imo... and I do not like... as. for me it is too much... Kinda my tunnel vision into Janz revolvers and others, people mention or compare... where fluted cylinders seem to be becoming more rare... Basically,I am saying I really like. fluted cylinders... and like how Janz matched up so well, a futuristic rectangular barrel... in this dream revolver...

Mine has already been made, I owned it and let it get away. Sorry, I no longer had even a picture of it, but it was a Smith and Wesson Model 21, in 44 Special. Fixed sight, N-frame. Mine was a "Thunder Ranch" model with a big gold "chicken" on the side. That I would do without on "my" gun, and I'd want a set of Hogue monogrips to replace the slick wood grips that came on the TR version.

That revolver was just serious business.

My dream revolver?

The one that I shot in a blinding
rain storm while riding a horse
at full gallop and hitting the X-ring
with 18 shots from 70 yards away.

That's my dream revolver. :):):)

Wow... For real or dreaming... ?

my dream doesn't exist, and i'm guessing never will.

ruger vaquero or similar gun that is double action. looks just like the vaquero/colt peacemaker, etc.... old, cowboy style single action guns that is double action. same size, same fit, etc...
but i want the transfer bar safety. if i'm carrying a sixgun, i want it to be a sixgun, not a fivegun.
Sounds like a High Standard Double Nine, but they only came in .22 and .22 magnum.

They had swing out cylinders and were 9 shot and double action. Not sure if the frame is Vaquero size.

that one is easy. they've got tons of them in hollywood.

In "The Revenant," I seem to recall Leo DiCaprio making at least one shot (if not several) with a flintlock pistol, knocking off an enemy at full gallop and at 50 yards while not even LOOKING... Heck, if one can do that with a flintlock pistol, there must be countless percussion and cartridge revolvers that can easily match that feat. :)
