Your Favorite Handgun Acquisition of 2021

Last purchase of the year after a 2 year search.

I didn't buy a lot of handguns in 2021... mostly just a few revolvers. One of them was easily my favorite handgun purchase of the year.

My daughter mentioned that she would probably be wanting to have one of my 38/357 service revolvers in the fairly near future. That was good. Then she mentioned a couple of my favorite handguns, and I became a sad dad, instead of a glad dad. :(

I kept my eyes open and eventually found a pretty good deal on this nice clean LE turn-in S&W Model 64 in 38 special. The trigger is extremely good. My daughter is a tall, strong young lady with large strong hands, so I put a pair of wooden target grips on it for her.

She likes the trigger and grips a lot. She shoots it well and comfortably. I'll be sure to give it a little exercise every now and then until she claims it.

It's the nicest handgun I bought all year, and it also has a sort of sentimental value... or maybe a pre-sentimental value? :)

What's your favorite handgun that you got in 2021, and why?

If there's no picture, it didn't happen. ;)

Hmm, that's a hard one. I'd have to say my S&W 642 in .38.

Didn't buy much in 2021 but lucked out a bit. Top of the list is a pristine Ruger Old Army, stainless, 7.5 inch barrel, and adjustable sights. It came with the good flap holster made for them way back when, the original nipple wrench, and some percussion caps. All for well under 500 bucks. Helps to be in the right place at the right time.

Second would be an old H&R 922 revolver, in excellent condition, with the 6 inch barrel. Yeah, the double action trigger is heavy but fairly smooth and the single action trigger is nice. It was another bargain find. Did I need another 22lr revolver? Nope. But I like the looks and balance and it is a rather satisfying plinking gun.

I acquired, by means of a very generous gift, 5 new to me guns. Three pistols and two rifles. A nice S&W model 41, Beretta 21a and a Springfield XDm Elite 5.25. How cool is that! Great shooters all. The rifles are a gorgeous Henry Golden Boy and a nice stainless Ruger 10/22.

I did buy one pistol this year but these five are special to me.

I had a very good year gun wise. Found a three gun deal on a Python, a 57, and a 25-5. Also got a 27-8 Lew Horton. Pistols-a Glock 42 and Ruger MK II Target. Rifles- my first and only AR.

I did trade off my Kahr K40. If it was a 9 I would have kept it.

The 27-8 is by far my favorite of the bunch. I will try to post pictures tomorrow.

It's a tough question.
I bought 7 handguns last year, but my favorite is a tossup between the CZ P-07 and the Kimber Ultra Carry II
I also bought a CZ P10C, a Springfield 1911 Ultra Compact .45, a Heritage Barkeep, a Ruger LCP II in .22lr and for reasons I can't remember, a used Phoenix HP22

Looking ahead to 2022, even though I'm divesting myself of most of my guns, I'm thinking along the lines of an adjustable sighted 1911 in 10mm.

Ditto.......

Looking for a Kimber Black Ice.
I like my Kimber Rapide and really would like to have a Black Ice (for the looks) in 10mm so I have another caliber to shoot and re-load and shoot and re-load..........!

Found this Colt New Frontier .22 LR/Magnum at a local pawn shop...I'd guess it's at ~95% condition. No turn line when I got it. Since then I've run ~200 rounds of .22 LR & Mags through it...found it's a bit more accurate with the Mag cylinder installed...~2" @ 25 yds from a rest. I made up this Tom Threepersons holster for it as well.
Best regards, Rod
