NEW FN Hi Powers!!!

Most likely. Its doubtful these will take Hi-power mags. There is not enough room in those 15rd mecgars to squeeze in 17 no matter what kind of follower spring combo you use.

The purists are probably not going to like these as its more a re-visioning of the hipower. Looks nice though. I agree the ambi slide release is dumb. Ambi Safety should be enough. Curios if they use the same trigger system.

I have a feeling Its going to really eat into the 9mm 1911 fad a bit.

Wonder if a ambi-slide release delete will be developed. Curious what the slide looks like behind the release, if it's non-descript someone will manufacture a one-sided release. I would gladly change it out, I have no use for ambi controls.

Meh. Sounds like FN figures they can wring a few more dollars out of us.

I thought I read somewhere that they quit because their machinery was worn out and sales werent there to bother. Guess someone upstairs heard "ka-ching". :)

Wonder if they will upgrade the tooling, or just ride this last wave into the beach?

I guess if you've never owned one, or dont own one, its cool. I have 1911's and HP's, and carried both in the past, but moved on as things improved. Dont see anything here that would change that.
Dear FN, please take my money

If the custom shops start working on them someone will most likely come up with something like that. It might not bother me. Kind of need to get one in my hands and see the internals. Sometimes this all ambi stuff works. Suprised they didnt do an all ambi mag release as well.

Gut feeling these will be more of a Hi-power in name only. FN may have been working on this for a while and just decided to throw the "hi-power" label on it to cash in on the recent uptick in Hi-power interest.

Whatever it is called it looks nice. New barrel locking system is likely to make it a lot easier to manufacturer and should make it more aftermarket barrel friendly.

I like what I see. Looks like an 80s - mid 90s type pistol throwback. Hopefully they perform and become a classic spawning a big aftermarket. Probably put a big dent on Springfields SA35. If Sig Sauer made a Hi-power it would probably be close to something like this. I want ultra durability and chamberings in 30 mighty mouse, 9mm, 40s&w, and 357sig.

I'll take one in 9mm and 40S&W you can have the other two chamberings.

The 40S&W would be my winter carry, would be a very nice option for some extra HP over my 9mm G48.

What is the "different locking system?" Pictures are too bad for me to look for a cam.
ETA, thinking is Glock style with just the chamber block locking in the ejection port.

That bisexual slide stop looks strange with a lot of parts and pieces.
ETA, that is apparently a takedown latch in front of the off side slide stop lever.

Well, look what Springfield has brung about! I haven't heard what FN is going to charge for their quasi-resurrected Hi-Power but, imo, the biggest reason for Springfield's new found popularity is that its well-made rendition is relatively affordable. If FN's facsimile is priced competitively, features (forged vs cast, ergonomics, quality of finish, workmanship and material, warranty, number of mags provided, etc.) will be the deciding factors for me-I do plan on buying one of the two; we'll see. And one made from s/s might absolutely tip the scales for me.

I noticed that it's "High Power", not "Hi Power", with the former being correct for pistols marked "Fabrique Nationale" and not Browning. If it's a hoax the perpetrator has some knowledge of the make.

Still, there's a slight whiff of an early April fools joke to this.

Don't get me wrong, if it's true, and not made of plastic, I'm all in.

If you zoom in on the top one it clearly shows a different locking system, very Sig like. The slide lock looks like a departure from classic hi power as well. Appears is swings down. There is also something weird going on by the beaver tail.

Am willing to bet it uses 509 mags and has a polymer frame judging by the fde one.

Hard pass for me.

The pictures don't appear to be polymer to me, I don't think the beavertails would be that crisp if polymer, looks like an alloy to me.

But yes, I'm with both @sevt_chevelle and @Nature Boy if it is indeed polymer. Get me a yack bucket and it can die on the vine.

didn’t he die in prison???
3 times... If you believe some people.

Ill just leave this Belgian beauty here... Not an FN but a Browning. Ive since put the original grips back on.

With the HK stuff not meshing well with me, was thinking going back to Hi Power.
I like the looks of the SA version over the upgraded FN.

Changed the sights on my old one, yanked the mag disco and added a C&S thumb safety.
Had the commander style hammer. Nice rig.

Proly shoulda kept it, but the Mepros were I think set for 147gr loads. Screamer 115s hit low.

Really looks like a Daewoo that looked like a HiPower...

I wonder if the "we stopped production" increased demand to where we'll see lots of companies "cancelling" legendary guns just to bring them back...

This is being released at SHOT Show. From all accounts it is real. To me it looks like a BHP and a Sig P228 had a love child. Full length guide rod, internal extractor, looks like a high bore axis, there is no lockling lug cam so we can assume a Sig like or FNP locking system. Looks like the "texturing" is cast into the frame. Safeties look like MKIII safeties. Sights look improved. To my eyes it looks thick and blocky. The blue/black version looks to be a compact/detective length.

If I had to guess it is leveraging some of the production of the 509. I would put money on it that it takes 509 mags. It is interesting but I do not see it replacing my current BHPs. Time will tell. I will certainly keep an eye out for one and check it out ASAP.
