The frame looks like it's made of plastic...

Was it confirmed to be metal, somewhere in this thread?

Per FN in their description the frame and slide is made of steel with three finishes. Follow the links below and click on the circles around the different parts of the pistol and you’ll find it talking about it.

I was hoping for a stainless steel model, but the way their descriptions are written it sounds like there are three finishes one being a stainless finish.

I cant remember FN ever making a stainless steel pistol. Looks like its all PVD which is probably why folks are questioning the frame being polymer. PVD makes pretty steel look kind of like plastic.

Ironicaintit
the way that FDE one looks sure makes me think it's a polymer.
I may have to spend good money on a plastic .40s&w high power

That's what I thought to at first, especially the one with the black finish.

But FN says it's got a steel slide and steel frame, all 40 oz. of it.

I am very excited for this and it has an ambi safety! Being a lefty, that is a must for me.

BTW...Was not trying to say Americans are Dumb... I am one. Just that FN has about as much name recognition as Steyr in the US among average gun owners. Both make top notch firearms but they dont have the Brand recognition to most. Could this change things... maybe. CZ was once like this as well as many others. Unlike FN.... CZ priced their CZ75 type pistols competitively and grew the brand before raising up the prices. FN has had some good poly pistols available but they just never really take off.

I think you’re speaking more for yourself here rather than the US gun-buying market in general. FN has been a well known, iconic firearms brand for at least a century. Adding to that, they acquired Browning in the 70’s and Winchester in the 90’s.

I don't know, $1300 for the FN OR $650 for the SA. I see no reason not to buy the SA-35 since it has all interchangeable parts with the original P-35.

Slave labor vs. Americans put to work.. We wonder why all of our jobs have vanished.. Walmart mentality abounds

The SCAR and FAL are well represented in video games, so that has probably done alot to bolster FN's brand recognition amongst "non-gun guys."

Well, even if the SA35 forgings are done in Turkey with final assembly and finishing in Illinois, it does give some Americans a paycheck.

Now, enriching an increasingly hostile and fundamentalist Islamic state run by a petty dictator sure doesn't make me happy- but its still not exactly slave labor.....

Is it still unknown where SAs frames are forged?
