I couldn't believe what a jump from the Crossfire 2 this was. Just a magical scope. I'm still getting used to it but here was my last grouping of the day at 250 yards.

How do I delete a thread I have created. I don't want to saturate the forum.

Thanks all.

I tried a Crossfire II also, on an AR. Was not a very clear scope and the eye relief was hard to dial in. I exchanged it for a Strike Eagle (plus $$ on my side, of course). Much better clarity. Can't say I was in love with the reticle though. Glad you like the Venom. Vortex makes a scope for almost everyone, and their customer support is awesome too.

Glass quality, coatings, repeatable adjustments, the rest is just aluminum tubing. The better quality scopes today are made in Japan, but the do cost.

Those Vortex scopes of very different levels in cost and quality are made in different countries by OEM manufacturers for Vortex.

My $169 Burris Fullfield E1 6.5-20x50mm was made in Philippines and $109 Bushnell Dusk & Dawn 6-18x50mm along with $59+Rebate (I bought several on Black Friday special) Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40mm were made in Korea and they have been pretty good.

Both come with lifetime warranty and members reported good customer service experience (Bushnell has been replacing warranty scopes with new/upgraded scopes) with Burris coming with "No questions asked" warranty.

When I was looking to upgrade from Bushnell D&D 6-18x50mm AO, I went to a Field & Stream store to visually check for my eyes and compared various Bushnell, Nikon, Vortex and Leupold scopes. I was pleasantly surprised how brightness and sharpness slightly differed between brands and models while reading small prints on the opposite store wall which was about 75 yards away. Like OP, I was impressed by what I saw through Vortex scopes with my eyes and left the store anticipating a future Vortex scope purchase.

In a scope comparison thread, members sang praise of Burris scopes which moved production from USA to Philippines (I thought Burris scopes were out of my price range) and when I did a search on gundeals, found Burris 6.5-20x50mm with side parallax and ballistic plex MV reticle. And like OP, was impressed by brightness and sharpness I saw compared to various scopes I compared with my eyes - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...20x-50mm-169-9-shipping.893341/#post-12061424

I bought several Minox ZV3 3-9x40mm "designed and engineered in Germany and assembled in the USA" scopes but would not hesitate to recommend made in Korea Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40mm with comparable brightness and sharpness which has certainly been durable as it is my primary reference test scope for ARs and PCCs.

I got a Vortex Viper back in a trade for my Sightmark Wraith, and I've been impressed with it. Clarity is good, though I think my Burris Fullfields aren't that far off especially considering the price difference. The huge difference to me was how crisp turrets are, that was the WOW factor for me.

Yeah, burris turrets arnt great....better than some ive used, but definitely set it and forget its for me.
MOST of my scopes now have good to excellent (for the price ranges) turrets. The Arken SH4 ive got has "good" glass, but the turrets and other adjustments border on fantastic.....again from my limited experience with such thing.

I really need to try another Vortex.....might try a Venom or Viper G2.....

I don't think the Burris turrets are bad by any stretch, just a noticeable difference with the Viper for sure.

To be fair I've only owned the Fullfields ii's and E1's, and Droptines, so take my opinions for what they are. (I did have a Black Diamond on loan for a while years ago)

I don't think the turrets maintain the same level of quality as the glass does on those models.
The turrets on both feel nearly identical, and are definitely usable. I found them to adjust correctly and to maintain the adjustments after they're made, but I've never found them to be particularly accurate and are squishy.

Again not saying they are bad, just that they focus more of investment in the optical than they do in their turret systems.

You want bad turrets the Leopold Freedoms are awful for the cost, they are still usable though.

I want one, if for no other reason that one day when they are gone I'll think back and wish I had taken advantage of the deal. Would be an awesome scope for a .22 LR, but in all reality, a very nice scope on what ever one chooses.

Any complaints with the Wraith?

Nope. Just won't get to night hunt NEARLY as often as I'd hoped and wanted something that didn't require batteries so it was a little more practical.

With a proper illuminator (I had a Sniper Hog Lights 66LRX) you can see out farther than you'd probably be comfortable shooting (I could see clearly out to 400+ yards). With the illuminator that comes with it, I'd say 100-150 yards would be what you could identify game to which is still probably adequate for alot of people.

There is an ever so slight delay in the picture when you're using it, which is the nature of the beast with digital night vision. Just have to be aware of it. If I had the $$$, I'd bump up to the 4K for the much higher resolution, the videos that some guys have posted in the Wraith groups I was in in Facebook are impressive. The HD I owned is not slouch and is usable, but the 4K's video/picture is awesome.

One other thing to be aware of, to mount it on a bolt action you need an adapter to get it back far enough for proper eye relief. It looks kind of goofy, but made it more comfortable to use.
