I have a 1976 High Standard Sentinel MKIV 4in 22 WMR. Bought it a year ago from an estate. Gun in original box, never fired. Now that I've had it, shot it and carried it. It has become one of my favorite guns.
Have 2500 WMR for it. It carries great in an IWB holster. Accurate enough for anything I need. And super reliable. Any fans of the Sentinel MK series?

I had a bright blued 4 inch Sentinal 22 lr long ago. I really liked it but it was stolen 30 years ago. Eventually I found another. This one is matte finished and not as smooth functioning....but it works and is my best .22 revolver. Plastic grips feel decent but not nearly as pretty as the grips in your pic.

I had one that was my Dad’s when he died. It was the Mk IV in .22 WMR with the 2” barrel. When I got it the cylinder was all chewed up because someone (my dad) dried fired it and the firing pin peened the cylinder. It also had weak springs and the 2” barrel made for an impressive light show.

I bought a new “used” cylinder and a 4” barrel from Gunparts Corp and I managed to find a new set of springs for it and I overhauled it. It was a very nice revolver after I fixed it. I got all the parts back in the 90’s.

My sister has it now as she needed an HD gun and she has serious arthritis in her wrists and hands. The .22 Magnum has a little power but doesn’t hurt her to shoot it.

I had a Sentinel R-101 and R-107 Deluxe. Neat guns, with 9 shot capacity. I gifted my best friend the R-101 and sold the R-107 which had a lot of wear. Funny, I found a nice R-107 Deluxe locally last week for $299. I haven't purchased it, but was tempted to see if they would take $250.

I have absolutely lusted after one of those (in exactly that configuration) for decades, ever since I saw a picture in Gun Digest. I'm seriously jelly.

NOT J frame size , it is very close to Colt D frame size and slightly under a S&W Model 12 slenderized K frame. I was first introduced to the Sentinel in the beginning of the 60s at about puberty before entering high school in 8th grade by Chick Gaylord in his tiny shop ex fur vault range. It was an NYPD "Cop shop" and my uncle was a NYPD Det. at the time. Gaylord taught me how to shoot a pistol his style with a Sentinel Snub .22 . I had a MK4 .22 mag years ago and sold to somebody long ago as their first gun . I currently have a Sentinel R107 Deluxe 4" with Pearl Grips for use on smaller pests around the home (rural) in my wife's bio safe alongside her J frame S&W model 37 in her saferoom bedroom.

High Standard was always looking for something to liven up their business.
The Mk 1 LR and Mk IV WMR were steel frame upgrades of the original Sentinel.

There are also Mk II and Mk III but those are .357s made for HS by Dan Wesson.
High Standard tried to get a handle on the Auto Mag about the time they were brining out the new revolvers but could not get it done.

You bet! I bought one with a 6" barrel through my folk's country store/gas station way back in the late '60s. I don't remember how old I was, but I graduated high school in 1966, so I wasn't very old when I bought it - my first handgun.
Unfortunately, I foolishly sold it to someone at work about 10 years later. It's one of the very, very few guns I regret selling.:(

It was my first pistol. I worked for the Ft. Worth Boys club when I was in college. Another college student who worked there was Jim Wilson. We used to talk guns and pistol in particular. I told him I wanted to buy a .22 pistol. He recommended that I get a Hi Standard. I did and I loved it. About 30 years later, I was reading an article in a Smith and Wesson published book and something struck a chord with me. I looked at the author of the article and it was Sheriff Jim Wilson. Same guy. We had both gone into law enforcement, Jim had added the side job of being a gun writer. His advice was great for me on that .22.

I had an R-100 with a 5 inch barrel that was a nice gun except that the fixed sights were not on target for me. I sold it and got a 3 inch nickel R-101 that is much better and prettier. The early ones like those had aluminum frames. Ed Buffaloe has a good history of the series here: https://unblinkingeye.com/Guns/Sentinel/sentinel.html

He has a separate article on the High Standard Double-Nine, which was the Sentinel dressed up in a Colt Single Action Army outfit: https://unblinkingeye.com/Guns/HSD9/hsd9.html

As I recall, there was a thread recently about somebody introducing a what appears to be a copy of the Double Nine. I will look for it.

Here it is: https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/diamondback-sidekick.893936/

I also had a double nine back in the day. Don't miss it either.

I bought my first handgun around 1974 from my brother-in-law. It was similar to a Double Nine but had an aluminum frame.
It was a High Standard called “The Marshall”.
I think it was some kind of promotional deal because it came with a holster.
I paid $60 for it, kept it 2 years and sold it to a friend for $70 so I could buy a S&W Model 17 brand new for $145.

I had one that I bought just a few years ago. It was one of the nicer models with a steel frame. The trigger was very nice.

Unfortunately, neither I nor my friend (who is younger and most days a better shooter) could make it group worth squat.

I wanted to like it. I think I gave it to my friend to use with rat shot

I just picked up an R-103 at Kittery Trading Post. I won't share what I paid for it (you'd be embarrassed for me). Lovely gun, no finish blemishes that I can see, appears unfired... until an hour ago :). I stripped it expecting to find at least a hint of use, but it was spotless and bone dry inside (of course I oiled it). Sights are almost dead on at 7 yards, just a bit low. Would probably hit the 10 ring at 25 yards. Single action is crisp at I'd estimate 4 lbs. Double action is heavy but smooth. One problem: 1 or 2 misfires from light strikes, every DA cylinderful. I was shooting Federal bulk pack, which are 100% reliable in my Model 17. I'd appreciate any ammo advice, my LGS only carries CCI these days.

I have one my FIL gave me before he died. Not sure what model it is but it has a 4" barrel. It's been in my safe about 10 years and I've never shot it. Nobody in my wife's family wanted it so he gave it me. I'm a S&W snob so shooting it would probably scar me. I also have a Taurus but I don't shoot it and nobody knows I have one. ;)

I have owned several 101 through 107 over the years. Made to be an inexpensive piece but they felt good in the hand and accuracy of all of them was beyond what should be expected.
