First of all Id like to point out that I am a big fan of the P365XL. I highly recommend the gun.

About a year ago a coworker brought in a P365XL and let me try it at the range. I felt the gun was a perfect size for concealed carry. It was slim and small enough to comfortably ride on my belt covered yet big enough to handle recoil decently.

My only complaint with the gun was the grip size. Not length, but circumference. Im a fairly large guy at 6 foot 2 and have pretty large hands. I noticed that when shooting at an accelerated pace my trigger finger would sometimes contact the thumb or palm of my support hand. This would cause a shift in my grip pressure and give an errant shot. Not horrible but noticeable. AT 15-20 yards Id still be on a silhouette target, but not in the A (or slightly out in the C) zone.

I initially figured this would be something I can work on and would get better. I spent 6 months and several hundred rounds working on it. A couple weeks ago a coworker told me that he was interested in buying one and offered to buy mine. So I gave up and conceded that no matter how much I like the gun, it just doesnt work for me.

So Im back on a Glock 43x. Similar overall size but the Glock has a thicker grip. I had one of the original 43x with the stainless slide and ended up trading that off because I couldnt warm up to the two tone look. Im going to give this one a fair shake and see how she does long term. I still may end up going back to a Glock 26 with a pinky extender as I know I shoot those well. But I find the slimmer guns to be more comfortable to carry.

That’s why I never quite bought into the saying that you must “adjust to the gun”. There are many choices out there. If one has trouble shooting the first 50 rounds accurately, and your technique is sound, then that’s not the right handgun for you.

I added tennis racket grip tape to mine. Now it's more hand filling.
Clean the surface good with alcohol, and wear gloves so that the oils from your hands don't get on it while cleaning it.

I've had several friends absolutely rave about their 365s. Some were basic 365s, some were XL or SAS models. I never cared for the way any of the 365s felt in my hands. I know I've handled the vanilla one and the SAS and I'm pretty sure I've handled an XL. I feel the same way about the Hellcat. On paper, the Hellcat, 365, G43 and Shield are all within fractions of an inch of each other dimensionally and all within a couple-three ounces. But they feel very different in the hand.

My Dad just ordered one, I'll have to ask him about that when he gets it.

Yeah, I think there are a lot of us who would consider a P365XL if SIG would make a larger grip module for it. Something along the size of the Shield Plus grip for example. The trigger reach is too short for me on the P365. WC came out with replacement grip but those that already have them are saying they are barely larger. Shadow Systems just came out with their CR920 micro compact too and should be available in March. I am anxious to check that one out. For now I am still happy with my M1 Walther PPS as it fits my hands good so that I can shoot it very well and on center of target though I would not mind 5 rounds more in that size thin frame quality pistol.

I just ordered one of the WC Modules. According to the dimensions they should make a difference. I really don't need much more as I don't have huge hands. Needed a GP100 spring kit anyway.

It’s too bad the SIG 365XL didn’t work out for you. Several friends own them and none has ever had a bad thing to say. :(

I carry a Glock 43X all day at work, and I bought a 48 ( same frame, slightly longer barrel/slide) because the grip feels so good for me.

BUT, the triggers on both the 43X and 48 (and 43 as well) pinch the bejesus out of the pad of my trigger finger with every shot. After 15, maaaybe 20 shots, I’m done.

Original awful (for me) trigger:

I had to install Vtac flat triggers on them to make them shootable for me. Now I’m in heaven .

Vtac trigger on my 43X (awesome for me!) :

Stay safe.

I bought the P365 Tactical package that came with the two 12-round magazines. Same amount of purchase as a G19. But, at 6'2" the grip diameter was a bit thin.

Loved the gun, the accuracy, the reliability, and everything else. So, instead of getting rid of it, I spent $12 on a Hogue grip sleeve that thickened the grip and made it feel perfect.

I don't understand why so many people trade off or sell pistols due to ergonomic issues that can be cheaply and easily addressed with aftermarket grip sleeves or extensions.

I’ve added rubber grip sleeves to increase diameters on pistols, or added thick panels, or even thin panels. After more trials, I still sold them.

In my case with those guns, the honeymoon was over and I wanted to move on to something else.

IMHO, how it feels in your hand is a key to how well you will shoot it. It just has to fit and fell good for me anyway!

I selected my VP9sk over all the others I tried or owned because it just fit better!

I'm not a fan of grip sleeves.

I have the 43X, P365, P365X, and P365XL. I like them all. I think the 365s are smoother shooters with better triggers out of the box. This week I am changing out the trigger connector on the 43X to the Ghost Inc. trigger connector. It's supposed to help smooth the pull and lighten it up. After that the Apex trigger.
