What revolver do you use for home defense?

I'll duck out of this one, as I really hate revolvers.. Just a personal thing.
But for the record I use a 12g pump for HD, and always have a 9mm on my hip, with a LCP380 on my ankle as a backup.

The 12 gauge must make a large noise....what shot size do you use?

That ought to make a bruise. :D My wife chose a 20 guage with buckshot for her HD gun.

My father, a long time ago made me go to the front door and stand there, and told me to have a mind set as if I was planning on breaking in the house.
So I did, as I was standing there, I hear this loud shotgun pump action cycling, this alone made me think twice before coming in. Then the thought of it being a 12g was enough for me to yell out.....DAD, Its ME!! (I grew up on a farm) He said yeah come on in. as I took one step. he pointed the guage out the window and pulled the trigger. I immediatly hit the floor!.
This day will forever live in my mind of there is nothing like the sound of a 12g pump as the first deterant in home invasion/break ins.

I had a Parkerized Rem 870 with a 14" barrel and Trijicon rifle sites issued to me for work. The last couple of years prior to retirement my agency stopped using 00 buck and went 100% with slugs. That was a great set-up for a shotgun....very easy to center-punch a QIT target at 50 yards.

I keep both a 6" Charter Arms Bulldog 357 and a 4" Windicator 357. I have 8 speedloaders for each, mostly loaded with 38+P for indoor use. My semi auto CC gun also does Home Duty and occasionally I swap it and bring one of the revolvers out with me for the day instead.

My bedside gun is a single shot 12 Guage. There's a sw model 65 with 38 near to hand. In the living room I keep a 1911 in 45.

Dont get me wrong, I love me some single shot break action shotguns, but what point does a single shot serve as a HD weapon.
the time to reload is almost worthless in "most" HD scenarios.

I dont think I have seen anyone in the last 5 to 8 years use a revolver as a CC

I only do about once or twice a month. Often its when I plan to go for a hike, or a short walk in the woods after work just to chill out. We do have a bear "linear" going through our area. About two years ago two 400 - 500lb black bears were reported and caught by the DEC and relocated to the central Alleghenies about 50 miles from here. We also have a mall about three miles from our house. Two other blackies were caught there, one of them actually went on a food run inside the mall when they opened the doors in the morning. The other raided a dumpster behind Dunkin Donuts in the same area as the mall.

Sometimes I just like a revolver, and especially the extra power 357 affords. The 4" Windicator is way more concealable than some would have you believe. I carried it today as a matter of fact, first time this month. Only on the summer would it be a headache. I haven't carried the Charter in a awhile. Even the Charter is so light and slim despite the 6" barrel, it will conceal without a noticeable bulge and a long shirt or jacket will just barely cover the barrel.

What I don't like about carrying a revolver with me sometimes, is that neither one will fit in the armrest console by my right elbow in the car. They have to go under the seat. Nearly all my semi-autos will fit there, though.

I like them too, I just personally did not see its best use as a HD weapon, given it's reloading time. I mean your in your own home with the arsenal and ammo depot, so I guess thats the best scenario for this type of gun used as this. But still I think I personally like the pump action with ammo already loaded for this use, gives me more ability to focus on the dirt bag and not reloading or getting to the stored ammo.

I suppose it would be a pair of S&W j frames….

but they are next to a Glock 21 and I would use that every time over the others.

My home defense gun in effect is my carry gun du jour, either on me or within reach from bed. There is also a Glock22 with light and laser in a touch key box on the floor next to the nightstick. My carry gun is not always a revolver, but if it is, will be loaded subsonic.

My wife and I have our own HD guns, I prefer semi autos and she prefers revolvers. We can/do ensure that we can run each other’s guns.

since the ask was about home defense revolvers - that would be a 4 inch Taurus Tracker in .357 magnum. Usually we have .38 special +p hollow points in there….but I do have a speed loader at the ready with full .357 magnum hollow point loads in it.
