Your Favorite Handgun Acquisition of 2021

This is a tough one for me, as I’ve had quite a few…and love all that I got for various reasons.

I was going to blather on about each one…but who wants to hear that?? Right?

So, right now, I’m going to say the Sig Sauer P365. It is my current CCW gun and has supplanted my commander 1911 for day go day since I had it pass the function shooting tests I put all my carry/HD guns through.

I bought two guns in 2021:
A Sphinx SDP compact, probably the ultimate in CZ P07 clones.

A Sar 2000, a very nice SS CZ 75 clone:

‘What a coincidence, I bought my son in law a SARS in 2021. I couldn’t find another for my daughter, so ponied up 3 times the cash for a Sphinx compact.

Man, I wanted to keep that Sphinx so bad. But I was just being greedy since I already have at least 5 other CZ 75 types.

Still want a Sphinx though.

I procured two or three real prizes last year but this one stands out among them. An all domestic USFA Henry Nettleton model .45Colt. Mainly because I got such a good deal on it, at a time when most USFA's are well over $2000. It was advertised as having a rust spot on the barrel but it actually wiped off. For all intents and purposes, it was like new but no box or papers.

And the half flap holster I made for it.

Beretta PX4 full size in 9mm. Specifically the Langdon Tactical PX4 Custom Carry

https://www.beretta.com/en-us/px4-storm-carry/

My intention really wasn't to buy a gun in 2021, knowing 9mm ammo (well all ammo) would be tough to get, and I only had guns in .357 Magnum and .45 Auto, and had ammo for those, but not 9mm. However, the PX4 was a gun I had been interested in since their introduction nearly 20 years ago, but they had some features I didn't fully embrace.

Langdon's version, corrected just about everything I didn't like about the base gun (other than factory grip texture, or rather the lack of it), but they had been unavailable for several months, and when they came back in stock, I figured if I wanted one, I needed to get it "now". I got email notification from Langdon Tactical they were in stock, and I ordered it that day (last March). In a perfect world, I would have waited for the ammo shortage to wane, and bought the PX4 at my leisure, but seeing as the gun is not showing on the Langdon website at the moment, I probably bought it at the right time.

BERETTA 92X Compact,

I bought this for my wife as she was having trouble with reaching the trigger on my BERETTA 92D Compact. I took it out to test it and it shot so well, I will have to get one for my self.

I also bought her a S&W .380ACP EZ since it was so easy for her to rack the slide and shoot. I liked it enough to trade another gun in for one for myself.

Stlll, I like the BERETTA 92X Compact the most

Jim

Well, no pics, so, it did not really happen. ;)

I’ll nominate one of the two Gemini Customs Ruger SP101 five-guns, that I acquired, pre-owned but pristine, early in 2021, if I am remembering the dates correctly. I have noticed that Gemini Customs revolvers seem to have caught the attention of collector market, since then, with similar pieces priced well north of $3K.

Only one was a new Pietta Great Western II (GWII) 5.5" in 45 Colt, another CAS gun. I only found one online and grabbed it, wanting to replace a Vaquero. Too many sharp edges, but I fixed that.

Browning .22 1911. I really needed another .22. Sure. Anyway, I couldn't take my eye's off of it. I didn't even shop around, just bought it from ACE hardware of all places. Ten shot with grip safety and breaks down just like the 1911. Magazine safety (Ughh) but a real cool .22. IMG_0555.JPG
