S&W 16-4 Masterpiece 32 H&R mag value?

No such thing as true value IMO, just what the market (one's budget and desire) will bear.
The blue book is a tool for buyers to use when purchasing and has no reflection or ability to keep up with market trends.
Surprised to hear sales as low as 1300. I have not seen one ( in even fair shape) priced like that in a VERY, VERY long time.

Checking the GB marketplace I see only a few for sale at any time. I still hope to see a 4" that will go for under 2500.
Same for many of the discontinued models, but especially for models like the 16-4 with it's short production numbers.
Compounding the price issue is the fact that most who bought one don't want to sell at any price.

The accuracy of the .32 family of cartridges combined with S&W's last hurrah (mid 90's) at consistent quality
put the 16-4 in the mix of quality Smiths escalating in price.

Definitely recommend you buy the next one you see that is under 2000.

I'd even love to find a Taurus like that @Walkalong.
I have a Taurus 689, 6" in 357 that was made in the early 90s. It's fit and finish is equal to my Smiths of the same era.
Would not hesitate to grab one in .32 mag.

For use as a target revolver, I'd choose the K-32 chambered in .32 S&W Long over the harder to find and, accordingly, more expensive .32 H&R Magnum. Too, though I haven't checked lately, the .32 Long ammunition might be cheaper and easier to find than the Magnum; neither being especially cheap or easy to find.

I too got a Taurus M76. .32H&R Magnum.
It’s easily as good as a recent S&W.
I can’t say a .32S&WL is any more accurate.

Load is 100gr Hornady XTP over 11.2gr of Hod. Lil’Gun, Starline brass, Fiochi SmallPistolPrimer.

Last year RGuns had these Taurus revolvers listed on GB. Only have about $550 in each one. The top one is a model 76 in 32 long and bottom one is an unmarked model 761 in 32 magnum. Great quality at a good price.

I got my 6" 16-4 in late 2016. Prices for the 16-4's in my parts were running $1500 or so at that time and a year later. I'm sure an 8-3/8" version would be more expensive.

The 32 S&WL versions, K-32 and Model 16 through Model 16-3, were running $3000 and up.

Since the pandemic started, I'm sure prices have soared.

My Model 16-4 is on top, the bottom two are a Model 30 and Model 31.

That’s about the only thing I can say. K-frame Model 16’s (Older .32 Long masterpieces and newer .32 Magnums) have always been rather rare, subsequently they’ve always been on the higher end of S&W revolver sales prices.

I’d love one, or a .32 H&R Dan Wesson… but due to the cost I doubt I’ll ever spring for one.
