Last weekend I was sorting through my brass to start the tumbling process, and noticed some 45 Colt brass with larger than normal primer holes. Headstamp is Starline Blank. So I either picked it up at the range, or it was some white box ammo from a commercial reloader I picked up years ago at a gunshow (right after getting into 45 colt). Or it might have been a mislabeled bag of brass - I have absolutely no reason to buy blanks. Or (edit - just thought of another source), it might have come from some stuff I bought from an older guy getting rid of stuff he had collected over the years.

Anyway, not long ago I starting going through (shooting) anything that's been sitting on the shelf for a while, partly to put brass into circulation, but also to keep some of the older stuff from getting stale.

So, I went through all my 45 colt brass, and it looks like I have about 70 pieces, not counting what I might have loaded up recently before noticing it (haven't sorted through that yet).

Now that we have the history out of the way, what is the wisdom of THR regarding 45C Blank brass?
It's nice stuff, but I'm sure it's not going to do anything for my accuracy lobbing lead downrange.

I have no idea what might happen when fired (if loaded as Ammo), but 45 Colt firearms are too nice to find out!
I agree. I have been using Herco lately (it was cheap and available at the time), at moderate levels, so I doubt an extra stout ignition will excite it too much. Probably throw off the accuracy more than anything. But 45C will be easy to pull down, and there won't be very many of them. Just have to go through everything and make sure none escape notice.

Cut it down to 45 ACP length, load it with a fast powder at Schofield or the very low end of 45 ACP, and call it C45S......send it.

What you need to do, in the name of conservation, is put aside about $150,000 right now.

Those blank cartridges will be perfect for mounted cowboy action. So, you need to buy a decent quarter horse, a horse trailer, add another $75k If you don't already have a 3/4 to pickup or better, saddle and two breathed upon Colt SAA, plus other associated gear. That should allow you to put those pieces of brass to good use
