My next rifle. Rossi in 45 colt.

I have a pre-safety SRC with 20" round barrel and it seems just right. Yes she's only a .357, but with WW296 and a hard cast 200 grain bullet she hits nice and hard. I don't mind not having one in .45, although I wouldn't mind having one either.

Sometimes the Rossi's come off the line a little rough, or with some feeding problems. Mine has never suffered any and seems to feed anything. Nice gun to carry in the woods, nice balance and feels light.

Which sight. I drilled mine and my wife's .357's for lyman and a bullseye sight on the 45

I believe it's a Bullseye ghost ring sight. I just removed the old sight from the dovetail and installed the ghost ring sight. Kinda surprised it slipped right into the dovetail.

Aha...that's what those are! Them "XS" sights. Those were on mine when I got it, but Bubba didn't do a great job. The hammer was actually hitting the sight (mine was mounted much further back) Slightly. And then it had a really ugly front sight on it that came out of Bubba's junk box. Can't imagine what it came off of. So I wound up going back to the original sight, which lucky for me was still on the rifle. Then I attacked the front sight with a variety of files, made it look normal. !!

The rifle it's self was in brand-new like condition.

There really wasn't enough room behind the lugs to mount the sight. So I went the other way. Had a professional do the work. You can see the safety delete plug on the top. I also removed the shine. Plus the rear sight. Also don't normally store a cocked rifle. I did so to make the picture easier to capture. I am very happy with the change.

Wish you had told Bubba that. However, all is now good and it's really one of my favorite rifles, really the first one I think of taking to the mountains to hike or explore. Although, I like to rotate the "children" and give them all a chance to get out once in a while. I prefer peeps, but the regular open sights on a lever gun work perfectly fine for me.

My .45 Colt is a blued 16” model. All I’ve done to it is replace the safety with a button-cap and the plastic magazine follower was replaced with a metal one.

Both were easy to do, the items were from Steves Gunz.

The Rossi .45 is by far the smoothest and most fun centerfire lever I have. Those cigar butt sized rounds load and chamber easily and thwack my steel plates hard.

I have a Rossi M92 just like yours with the 16" barrel and chambered in .45 Colt. It has a large loop lever and is one very handy carbine to have around the ol' homestead. Very quick to get it into action and on target. Goes great with any of my three single actions that are also in .45 Colt.

Would love to have a .357/.38 Special version to go with my Ruger Blackhawk and my S&W Model 686. Perfect woods walking companions!

I had an older Rossi 94 .45 Colt. I bought it used from a guy that said he "only put a hundred rounds through it". He exaggerated.
Anyway, the one thing I found with mine was I had to keep COL, cartridge overall length, to 1.590" max or I encountered feeding problems. I am not saying you will have problems, it's just that if you have any issues look at your cartridge length to see if that's an issue.

I really like that stainless look. I would have a hard time passing up on such a fine looking lever gun. Congrats!

Who's Bubba?

Bubba is a guy who uses a dremel tool and a rasp and what ever else is laying around to do "gunsmithing"

I've owned several of these over the years. I currently have a 16" in .45 Colt. I regret selling my 24" octagonal Hartford model.

Got one of those, too. The only negative with it is the .357 has a very aggressive extractor that still chews up case rims even after I worked on it. It also doesn’t seem to be as smooth as the .45 Colt is.., but the .357 has a smoother action than my 1894 Win trapper .44 Mag. (The 1894 is a bit more herky-jerky by design than the 1892, IMHO.)

I hope you never come into possession of a firearm he has owned or worked on. He's very hard on firearms. Does more harm than good.

Speaking of Bubba, another thing he did to my rifle was to ground the front sight off the forward barrel-band, and then dove-tail the barrel IN FRONT OF the barrel band. Yep. Gotta drift the sight out of the dove tail to completely remove the front barrel/magazine band.

"Bubba" can also be an idiot who "gunsmiths" things that are too valuable and should never be touched. Sometimes Bubba can do high quality work, but he can also destroy the value of a very valuable gun. Like sandblasting and parkerizing a Purdy shotgun. Happily, I have not seen that one, but you get the idea. As a collector of milsurps, my biggest pet peeve is "sporterizing" an intact, unmodified gun. Leave them alone, please.
