Would deep seating it over the driving band let it chamber? I know you'd have to modify the load, so if'n you use it in revolvers also you probably don't want to do that. But, again you might like it in both.

Meh, too much trouble… and, really, I wouldn’t want to not crimp in the groove if it is going in the lever. I just choose bullets that are short enough to not bother the Marlin.

I am writing this warning for a young shooters (assuming you and other experienced shooters know this):

When loads are developed for a specific bullet, with crimp in a crimp groove, any time bullet is pushed deeper inside case, to make crimp in front of front driving band, and OAL gets shorter, pressure will go very high. In that case, I will look for 41 Special loads.

Back in 2016/17 (Handloader 304 & 305) Brian Pearce wrote a two part series on the 41 Special that contained a comprehensive list of loading data. His loads are getting 1,300+ fps with the Keith SWC and Alliant 2400.

That is more like magnum velocities!?
If not, that’s pretty darn close. Kinda defeats the purpose of the Special IMHO. ;)

I plan on loading my upcoming .41 Spl. loads to around 850- 900 fps, with a 215 gr SWC. These should be awfully pleasant, and hopefully very accurate, in the Model 57. :)

Stay safe.

Love the .41 magnum cartridge. Harvested my very first deer this season using a Ruger Redhawk chambered in .41 magnum. Buck dropped instantly. I think it is a great hunting round and offers excellent protection in the woods.

Nice and congrats! I dig the open sights. Really wish my eyes still allowed that.

Thank you. First deer ever for me. Second time going for a deer. First time no deer. This time I harvested this 8 pt buck. It was important to me that I use a revolver off hand so I would have to get up close and personal. I wanted to work as much on my scent, tracking, and positioning as I would have to with a shot if the opportunity presented itself. Spent Friday and Saturday scouting, looking for indicators of deer. Then Sunday morning up at 5 AM and in the woods 5:45 AM. I had identified a game trail near scrapes and poop so I positioned myself there at 6:30 AM and waited ... and waited ... and at 7:20 AM along came this buck. 15 to 20 yards I took my shot and he dropped. I was just as happy learning how to cape him and cut him up to take home and then later debone and make finer cuts as I was to harvest the deer. Loved all of it. Hard to beat Mother Nature.

As for iron sights ... again for me I wanted as close to 1 on 1 as I could get so I chose a revolver with iron sights. Over 2 years I shot many rounds out of that Redhawk. Standing, kneeling, prone, from up in a tree .... stationary targets, targets hanging and moving in the wind, even targets on a pull string so I didn't know when the animal (target) might move. Really helped me feel comfortable with this Redhawk. I had a perfect broadside shot opportunity on this buck and took it. Straight into his left ear canal. Projectile entered his ear canal and stayed within the skull so no real mess, no damaged meat, no suffering, just dropped.

One day I hope to spend time with a FA in .41 magnum. They are beautiful wheelies. Have to save some serious coins. :)

Congrats on that buck you took!!

Nice deer guys... Hunted several days in Pennsylvania this season with a 10" TC G2 and a 7.5" Ruger SBH Hunter... Only shot that presented itself was a large doe at about 10 yards... She had two little ones with her however and she got a pass... Had another one come in directly behind me while on a ground stand but could not get around for a shot...

Riomouse....I think that bullet may be a Remington 210 SP...Sierra only makes a 180 and 210 JHC. They made a 220 Silhouette bullet but no more...

For those of you that were waiting, MP Molds has the .41 Hammer mold back in stock. I had been waiting a while for these to show back up. I got mine in yesterday and it shows that there are still 6 in stock.
I also got the email about it, I’ve been waiting a long time for it but now I’m considering ordering a custom cut mold from LBT.
Still, very tempting.
