What was your first centerfire handgun?

If we're talking about the first handgun I ever owned, it was a S&W sd40ve. Didn't keep it for too long, within a years time I had replaced it with a Beretta 96, followed by a shield after having difficulty concealing the 96 lol (I'm 5'6 and was probably only about 140lbs at the time)

Actually, my first center fire handgun was an imported West German made Armenius in 38/357 back in 1978 or so. Sold it shortly after it was purchased. I then purchased my second handgun which was a 1979 Security Six which I still have and which still looks, feels, and shoots like it was right out of the box. The factory handles were way to small for my grip, so I purchased a set of larger, target grips.

The Security Six was $199 back in 1979, and the handles were an extra $19. Pics:

Redhawk .44Mag in 1990 at age 16. It went down the road some time ago. Never could get comfy with the grip. Factory was too small and all the aftermarket stuff was too long and narrow. I traded it for a very nice 6.5" S&W .38-44 Heavy Duty that someone thought was an M&P and later traded that for a 629 Mountain Gun that had been tuned by Bob Munden. Which I definitely still have.

Nope.
Dad sold it as soon as he noticed it.
In fact, he sold or left everything I had before he took me on a hitch-hiking trip to California.
All that I could keep was what I could carry.
I'll bet there's an interesting story in that..? o_O

First pistol, Model 27 Smith,3 1/2 inch barrel 357 Magnum in one of those cool wooden cases. Still have it.

I believe it was a 4" S&W M&P in .38 Special,,,
I was only 11 or 12 when my Grandfather gave it to me.

He also gave me tw0 50-round boxes of ammo and a Lee "whack-a-mole" loader,,,
With enough bullets, powder, and primers for several hundred more re-loads.

I shot all of the factory ammo up very quickly,,,
And eventually used up all of the reloads as well.

I don't have the pistol anymore,,,
It "mysteriously disappeared" from my closet shelf later that year.

I finally got Mom to admit that she gave it away after I shot all the ammo,,,
She never wanted me to have a handgun in the first place,,,
Mom always held that we kids didn't "own" anything.

My Grandfather gave me a lot of guns when I was a kid,,,
That S&W revolver, a pristine 45-70 trapdoor, a good Remington bolt-action .22, and the K98 Mauser his brother brought back from the war.

The K98 is the only one I still have.

I don't know if I can really say it was my first gun cause I never shot it but the first gun I ever bought period was a Cobra .38 special Derringer. Got it cheap and when I got it home I realized it wouldn't go into half cock so I returned it the next morning. Added to it and got a Ruger Lc9s instead.

Wow, thanks for reminding me.
A Taurus M-86, .38 Spl revolver, sometime in 1984.
Every time I fired one round, the cylinder unlatched and pulling the trigger had no effect, until I slapped the cylinder back into battery.
Repeat each shot.
Turned me off of revolvers for almost 20 years. I finally bought a well-used S&W M-66 and that cured me of the affliction.
