A simple question that cant be covered by a poll...what is your favorite firearm?

While i don't have an overly impressive inventory, my range of gear includes 22, 223/556, 308, 30-06, a couple of front stuffers, 20 and 12 guage, and 9, 10, 45, 38/357.

What's the firearm you own that is your favorite...your go to gun?

My fave is a simple 20g pump...followed by a 10mm 1911. then my AR platforms.

What's your favorite?

PTR-91. New In Box two weeks ago. They used German tooling (except for barrels) for years, then gradually switched to CNC production.

* My A3SK model has a 16" barrel plus a factory-welded upper rail.
The sight distance is the Same, whether an 18" or 16" barrel. The A3SK is all-black.

The lousy trigger is not so bad, --if you use the recommended pull technique--
The first two holes touched, right in the upper center of a bullseye at 50 yards. Iron sights: tiny 200-yard aperture.

The "rest" for 50 yards was just an empty soft, small backpack.

In "normal" times I would have gravitated towards my ar15 and my 1911 45 acp..... fast forward covid, panic buying, general state of societal decay and I now find myself using a bb gun and having fun while I await better times.

The violent HK/PTR extraction energy makes steel-cased ammo the most reliable.

This certainly keeps the shooting costs more moderate (.50/rd. before other charges), but ammo reloaders have lots of trouble with their abused, ejected brass.

Top Secret:
A) I sold 3,000 rds. of 9x19 ammo to a friend (handguns aren't much fun anymore with mil. rifle fun)- for .308 ammo Cash.
B) Also used another $200 from a rifle which was sold for Parts-due to failed No Go and Field gauges, for the
initial .308 ammo Cash.

I don’t have many anymore, and would be hard pressed to pick just one. My most accurate and reliable and thus my edc is a Springfield Range Officer 5” 9mm. My most wanted for years is my 4” Smith mod 67 no dash. My no frills, dead nuts reliable, depend on it no matter what is a gen 3 Glock 17. Most people’s favorite at the range is my 6” GP-100 357.

They are kinda like kids, I love them all equally and depending on what I’m doing or what mood I’m in, I may temporarily favor one over the others for a little while, but at the end of the day I love them all equally.

"What is your favorite firearm?" is simple question with a shockingly high number of answers.

My favorite firearm for cc: Shield Plus
My favorite firearm for killing renegade soup cans: 10/22
My favorite firearm for putting holes inside holes: Ruger American Rimfire, target model
My favorite firearm for sentimental reasons: my dad's 870

The list goes on and on.

Mine is my 642 S&W revolver

Not a simple question at all, as @Spats McGee evidences.

My "go to" hunting rifle is a Remington Model 7 in 7mm-08, though I have others.
My "go to" hunting handgun is a Ruger Bisley Blackhawk Hunter in .44 Mag.
My "go to" plinker is a Ruger 10-22.
The latest romance is a Masterpiece Arms PMR Pro II.

Different favorites by application. There is no "one ring to rule them all."

I’ve got about six “favorites”. Now, someone will say that I have to pick one.

Well, I did. One for every various need.

I have one high power center fire. Favorite there.

I have one revolver, a Ruger Bisley .45 Colt.

I have a Browning Buckmark .22 auto pistol. Favorite .22 pistol

Other ones that fit a specific need, but I don’t have, say, five different .30-06’s. Sold any overlap

I don’t know how I could have a favorite when different ones fit vastly different objectives

Favorite depends on what needs to be accomplished. Speaking generally, there’s a few staples every well rounded collection needs. My humble opinion.

Favorite from a pride/enjoyment factor… I really dig my Beretta 92, SA Mil Spec 1911, and my old Remington 700 Mt Rifle in 270 Win.

Favorite from an everyday, reliable use standpoint… my Glock 26. I never regret having that with me.

I routinely asked this of my shooting athletes. The answer should be the one that is in your hands (otherwise a subconscious negative can be introduced if the answer is not the one in your hands). Probably not a major consideration in non-competitive shooting, bit in competition the mental side is 95%+ of the job at the highest levels.
